I've seen numerous posts from users of both Launcher III and Launch'em. I'm trying to decide which one to try.
Any thoughts from those of you who have tried both and then decided on one or the other?
Let's hear it ...

LauncherIII is free and Launch'Em has a free trial, so why not try them both. LIII is a simpler app so I'd recommend trying it first as it is easier to configure and learn. (Not that either app is hard to learn.) Then try L'Em and see if the added gadgets are worth the $.
I use Commander, since I like the combination of a tabbed launcher and bulletproof security in the same app.

I've been using Launcher III since I got my Visor (Nov. 26) and I love it. Today I read your post and I thought I'd give the Launch 'Em a try. I'm sorry I did. After installing it and playing around for about 5 minutes I left my Visor in it's cradle and after I did a hot sync I heard it beep (not the normal hot sync completed beep). My Visor screen went blank and I could not turn it back on.
Come to find out my contrast had gotten turned all the way down and it slowly came back to full strength. The only thing was that it was stuck on the default PALM computing screen (like you see after a reset). No matter what I did I could not get it to start. The soft or hard reset did not work for me. I finally remembered the third, undocumented, way to reset the Visor and that worked. I held the UP scroll key while pressing the reset button so no apps would launch automatically. Thankfully, everything came back the way it was and I couldn't delete Launch 'Em fast enough.
Maybe my case is special for this program, but if you decide to test this program I would highly recommend not selecting the "Always start Launch 'Em" option in the Preference's menu. Just be sure to do a backup before installing it, though. I was really glad I had just installed BackupBuddy just in case!!!

I guess I got lucky because I am using Launch Em with no problems at all...
What these programs do is give your OS a little easier 'feel' to them... I configured little tabs like Games, Apps, Utilities, Hacks and when I want to see the respective Icons, I touch the tab... The gadgets on the bottom of LaunchEm are like a quick shortcut that can be configured...
Hope that makes sense.

I really like LauncherIII and Launch'em. They are both quite similar, but Launch'em has a few distinct advantages. The extra gadgets are quite useful, and I much prefer having separate gadgets than using the little "tool" gadget. Also, each tab is individually configurable--a big bonus. Categories with a few apps can have large icons whereas those with many apps with long names (like my documents which I show) are in list form. I'm not sure if it's worth the registration fee--that's for you to decide. Try them both.

I have been using Launch'Em with no problems. I first used it on my Palm III and now on my Visor Deluxe. It has always performed flawlessly. It is easy to customize and the gadgets are particularly handy.
As for the person who had trouble with it, I'm not sure why. I did have to do a hard reset when I loaded all my software from my Palm III onto my Visor using BackupBuddy. Since then I have loaded my apps onto my Visor using the Palm Desktop install tool. While tedious, it seems to be working.
