TealScript is another handwriting recognition package. It does use a hack (more on that in a second). TealScript is nice because it allows you to assign any stroke to a character. It comes with a prebuild profile that is similar to Graffiti, but you can create your own profile with your own symbols. This sounds great, but the place that it fell down for me was my handwriting. My lowercase "a"s tend to look a lot like my lowercase "g"s and "q"s when I am in a rush. At first I was upset by TealScript then I looked at my writing on paper and realized that I couldn't automatically convert my handwriting to characters unless I took the word context into account. I personally don't want my Palm thinking that hard (Calligrapher on WinCE [and Newton?] does something like that).
Another nice thing about TealScript is its cost, it is like $20 which is less than JOT.
Hacks - I love hacks. Hacks are little pieces of code that are installed into HackMaster. HackMaster catches certain operating system calls, check to see if there is a hack to execute instead, if so it runs it. (I have not yet written a hack so if I am a little off on the implementation, sorry). The only hack TealScript uses is "rescript" it loads TealScript after a reboot.
For me it was easier to learn Graffiti than to constantly check to see if I was writing too fast.
Hope this helps
