Uh-Oh - Static Electric shock to Prism

I just reached for my Prism, and when I grabbed it delivered a static electricity shock.

Now, tapping anywhere on the silkscreen, including the buttons, will only activative the application's dropdown menu - I can't actually select anything from the application menu, nor can I use the silkscreened buttons to select different applications, call up the calculator or do a search.

The hard buttons still work, though.....

I've tried two soft resets, and still no luck -

someone please tell me I didn't just fry my Prism, that there's an easy way to fix it!

Hoping for the best.....
TIA
Ed

Hmm...similar thing used to happen with the Edge. Just something to try which worked there. Sync to make sure that you have your stuff somewhat backed up. After that, pull it out the cradle and hard reset. Then leave it overnight, and your battery should theoretically be dead (when this happened with the Edge, a hard reset would put it into a fast draining mode). Recharge and after it's finished, sync to restore your data.

I did the same exact thing, with the same exact symptoms (unable to launch apps). I did a hard reset, and it came back up, but got into an endless loop while trying to calibrate the digitiser [sp?].

I'm trying the battery drain idea, but it didn't seem to work (maybe I didn't let it go all the way?).

Can anyone tell us if the prisms are dead or not? Is there hope?

Thanks!

What worked for me was to let the battery drain completely - I also got into the endless loop with the digitizer after the hard reset, so I just left my Prism on (I had to tap the power button down) for about 36 hours....after it was completely dead, I was able to recharge and get it back to life.
