Question

How would I go about installing the cd-rom set-up disk for visor to my office terminal if i lack a cd-rom drive in my office terminal. is there anyway i could save the cd-rom onto my zip drive at my home computer and then bring the zip drive into work, or is there a possible site that i could downloan the total executable installation program from. does anyone have any idea how i can do this? i really need help and it would make my life 100 times easier

If you can fit the setup files on the zip drive it should work from there. Otherwise, if you can somehow copy the install stuff to a directory on the network it should work too.

It should fit fine on a zip disk - the total installation (from memory) only requires 20Mb HD space - the CD can't really contain much more than this I would have thought, and certainly not over 100Mb!

The only problem you might encounter is if the installation software checks to see whether its running from a CD or not (ie. as a simple copy protection thingy) - if this happens, you will need one of the freeware utilities that tricks your computer into thinking its running from a CD-ROM - unfortunately I can't remember the name of it...? (Hopefully you won't need it - but if you do, I'm sure someone here knows what its called.)

Alternatively, I'm pretty sure Handspring will supply the program on floppies (at extra cost) - there was something on their web-site about it... when it was actually up .

I keep my Palm III cd and Bonus pack on a network drive. The Palm III CD is 11.4MB, and the Bonus Pack (had PocketMirror) is 10.9MB. I would suspect the Visor CD will be a combination of both.

Sure, if you're interested in spending the cash you get your hands on a parallel port driven CD-Rom drive. Check folks like Toshiba, Sony, etc.

i would just copy the entire cd (root dir and all) to the zip disk.

i don't think you can use the autorun off the zip, but the setup file is in the palmsw/disk1 dir.
