Unhappy lost info, or is it?

we just started hotsyncing and screwed up, after updating the computer, we hotsynced from the visor... overwriting all the updated info. Is there a way to find the data we lost on the computer?

Re: lost info, or is it?

If you are using Palm Desktop as your desktop PIM, then the information might (low chance though) be in the archive files. Assuming you are using Palm Desktop v4.0x:

For each of the four major sub functions of the desktop (Date, Address, To Do, and Memo), select it.

  • If you then do a menu File/Open Archive you will have a list of archive files for the selected sub function. On each for each of the categories a record had before it was deleted. If you then open one of these you can then explore it to see if there is any useful information found within. If so, you can either cut and paste the records from here to your current data, or you can perform the next operation.
  • If you instead do a menu File/Import..., you can then navigate to where the archive files are for the current sub function (typically c:\Palm\username\subfunction, where username is a shortened version of your HotSync name, and subfunction is either (address, datebook, memopad or todo). There you can select an archive file to be imported into your current data. Note: This will import all the data found in the selected archive file, quite possibly much more that is desired. These files typically contain data that was deleted long ago.

Best of luck.
