Question

Is this possible (while connected into the hotsync cable or cradle?)

This question came up in this thread: http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...=6] click here

Any possibilities?

Certainly its possible!!! Just requires some software on the palm to take the pics and some software on the pc its connected to to recieve the pics and post them to the web its connected to.... sounds easy enough... just get some software guru to write the software and start clicking!

What's that you say? Who wants to spend hours and hours writing code and squashing software bugs for your special request of this palm-eyemodule-web-cam thing-a-majig?

But, you asked if its possible NOT practical! In the computer world those are two very different questions... with computers most anything is possible but not many things are practical(profitable?).

I was the one to come up with the question.

This feature would make me buy the EM2 almost for sure.

I would like to try and develop it myself, but that means buying the EM2 without the feature, and not being sure it will ever exist.

However. I took a look at the SDK for the EM2, and it's relatively simple.
But I have no idea of thye complexity of the serial communication part !

For the Computer part, Quicktime should do the trick, at least on Mac (If I do it, it will be a Mac-only developpment)

Just a thought...

If the Visor with Eyemodule has to be in the USB cradle to act as a webcam, then where will the camera be aimed? EM1, and it'll be up at about 45 degrees to the ceiling. EM2, and it'll be up at about 35 degrees to the ceiling. The one nice thing about most webcams is that they can be easily aimed. An EM in a Visor in the USB cradle doesn't lend itself to easy aiming.

So if you're going to use your EM as a webcam, make sure you redesign the USB cradle too. Give it tripod qualities, with adjustable angle and direction.

Or, you could be cool and use a cable (instead of a cradle) and just put the visor ontop of your shelf.

Someone's gotta develop it...for PCs!!!
