Question

is it possible to get rid of, i.e. not display the "all" category as you use the button to scroll through phone numbers, and the to do list, and the notepad? its really annoying and distracting, if i'm putting stuff in different categories, phone number lists and such, I don't want to see them all together.. can anyone help? i know you can configure what displays the button scrolls through in the scheduler..is there a way to do it on the others?

much thanks!
andy

Andy,

"All" is not really a category. It's just a setting which lets all of the categorized records in a data base be shown.

As such, I don't really know of a way to turn it off. Which is, as you've noted, unfortunate.

I haven't even heard of a hack which will do something like this.

Nah, don't get rid of it. It's there for people like me who can't remember how they categorized something! After trying several categories and not finding the item, I can always go to "all" and find it!

ACEHack will let you delete the Unfiled category, though it recommends that you don't. I haven't used this hack, but it may do what you want.

I am a little confused by your question. Yes, there is an "all" and an "unfiled" category for notes, to-do, and phone.

I select a category in Notepad, and then leave the application, and go to the phone list, and select a different category than I selected in Notepad, and then go to the menu, and then I turn my VDX off.

When I turn my VDX back on, and switch to the phone list, it is on the same category that it was on when I turned it off. If I go to Notepad, it is on the same category that it was on when I left Notepad.

I don't know why you are saying that you always start out in the "all" category. Maybe it is because I am using LauncherIII. Are you? You have me confused.

ok, trying to clarify...

1)i dont mean the "unfiled" category, i mean the "all" category.

*when you press the button onthe visor for phonebook, thus turning it on, you are able to scroll through the different categories by pressing it over and over. i dont want to scroll through the "all" category...

same thing with the checklist, and memopad etc.

thanks

Andysolo,

I think what you want to do is this:

1) Open Address Book
2) Tap the menu icon (lower left)
3) Select Options, and then Preferences
4) Place a check in the box labeled Remember Last Category

This will keep Address Book from reverting to the All category. It will open to whatever category was last used.

Hope this helps...
