Why do you say that? Is it just the hardware problems you noted, along with the lack of color, or are there other limitations you have noted?

Can you easily beam the files to another PDA?

How well does the transfer to your desktop work? I think one thing that would really help is if someone would post a file that they transfered to their desktop so that we can see the detail, etc. that it offers. I've also read that you can zoom the pictures on the visor up to 4x. Is the zoom feature fully functional? It wold be really cool if this worked with ThinkDB the way eyemodule2 pics do.

The "ink" files are limited to one width of blackline...I would have been happier if there was an art program at least on the level of Diddlebug...But I figure that new software will surface next year to expand the capabilities of the SP & SP2...

Because the keyboard relies on the radio-pen to "click" a signal, text entry is a bit slower for me than other, even smaller keyboards. I have the Fellows TouchPad & I can two finger type pretty quickly on it. I haven't tested a ThumbBoard yet, but it's on my short list to try out.

The size of the portfolio moves you up to laptop size, but I find it sits nicely on the steering wheel of my van while I use it during breaktime. I may be just a blue-collar worker, but I make great use of my VDX on the job...

I would, but I'm broke until next month. If you still have it in a few weeks, you could have a deal. Hope for your sake that someone else wants it before then.

Is there anyway to print your notes via IR, through PrintBoy or some other program?

Question Just out of curiosity...

Are any of you who own the SmartPad lefthanded? Can it or the SmartPad 2 be used lefthanded?

I haven't seen one in person yet, but was wondering if the SmartPad could possibly be used upside-down. The keyboard on the SP 2 looks problematic for that, though.

The IR transeiver won't work with the pad reversed, nor would the keyboard...Given demand, I'm sure a leftie wouldn't be hard to manufacture.

I DID SEE the SmartPad for Palm devices at CompUSA with a $100 mail in rebate...SP2 was still full price. Maybe wait 2-3 months & the SP2 will be much cheaper as well.

I was on Costco's webpage a couple days ago and noticed they are selling the SM2 for $169.99. That's the cheapest I've seen it yet.
