Unhappy

Greetings! I have a VDX, and very recently it's started acting very strange. The screen doesn't respond to my taps, the system freezes (and then resumes) seemingly at random, and I went through 2AAAs in about a week.

Interestingly enough, I can hear "tap" sounds right before it freezes, and then right before it un-freezes. Any applications I'm running simply pause and resume like nothing happened. Also the hard buttons stop responding, including the "on/off" button.

Sometimes if I squeeze the sides of the unit, then it will resume operation. I can't regularly duplicate the problem however, so it's kinda hard to figure out what's causing it.

I have a backup modual, so no problem with a hard reset if that'll do it.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Lightbulb OS Version?

How old is the Visor, how full is the memory, and what version of the OS do you have? There was a batch of VDX's that came out last year (spring?) that had a problem with the onboard 8MB memory (Palm had the same problem with their handhelds too) When you started approaching the limits of the memory (filling it up) you started getting errors and other weird behavior. They issued a patch that fixes the problem, and it is available on their web site. They have a test utility and the OS 3.1H3 OS patch. The patch looks for memory problem and loads the correct version of the update accordingly. If this isn't the case, you may want to check and see what (if any) hacks you have running. It may also be a hardware issue. Good luck!
