Neos and NiMH batteries

I have used NiMH rechargeables for a year on my Visor Deluxe, but when I bought a Neo I had all kinds of problems - some power related. I got that Neos don't like rechargeables, and I had to fool it into thinking it had alkalines before it would beam sucessfully. That Neo I eventually returned because it stopped working even with alkalines. Now I have another Neo that seems to be working okay so far... can I go back to the NiMHs? They really save lots of money in the long run. What has been your experience?

NiMHs for me, but my my old Deluxe seems "happier" with them. I'm careful to replace them before they get too low and don't beam unless they're almost fully charged. (There was a thread a while back about the beaming issue... seems kinda silly to have to "fake it out" to beam!)

Most likely the extra 16MHz of the Neo requires much more power from your batteries than in the Deluxe. I don't own a Neo, but I used to own a Deluxe, and had exactly the same kind of beaming problems. The only difference from Deluxe (pls correct me if im wrong) and a Neo is the faster processor, and I assume that it is causing this problem.

A reset to reacticate beaming would usually solve the problem.

Thank you...

Thanks for linking me back to the previous thread; I read it all through and really do feel like there's an X-file there. I do beam quite often - I download apps and then pass them to my kids - and there are a few IR games we use sometimes, and I just finished making packing lists I intend to beam them, etc. I guess I MUST go back to disposables or the consequences will be my own fault. I have been warned (but not in so many words).

Did anyone ever try the eXtend Computer batteries? How can they be different than other NiMH?

Use rechargable Alkalines and no worries as to voltage or settings---
