Exclamation

I looked here, and didn't see anybody post this yet... The Backup module (IMHO the most useful module) is listed in a small ad in Sunday's circular for $24.99. that's the lowest I've ever seen it for anywhere. I wonder if it's one of Staple's famous misprints...

If I didn't already have this module, I'd go out an get one for that price.

Did it say how long the sale lasted?

It may be a typo. I bought the backup module last Thursday for full price and saw the new price in Sunday's paper. I went in with my receipt today and they refunded the difference, although when they entered the product code it came up at the regular $39.99 price rather than the sale price. This leads me to believe it may be another typo, but they refunded the difference without any questions and didn't claim it was a typo, so who knows. I imagine they'll honor the price most places. It's not as egregious an error as when they advertised the 8MB module for $39.99.

Lightbulb That's a roger

I went to Staples tonight, I can confirm the flyer has the $25.00 backup module. I did not try to purchase it though. Even at $25, I can't see buying a module that only does backup and restore. If I had more important data (as most people do), I would consider it, but I only use it casually for gaming and school.

Larry, Thanks for the tip! I ran out to Staples & got a backup module for $24.99 + tax. At first it rang up the regular price but I showed the checkout person a copy of flyer, and she gave me the sale price.

Cool! Glad it worked out for you. I was going to say that I wish I hadn't bought mine yet so that I could get in on this great price, but I think mine has paid for itself many times over already. When your not by your cradle, and you crash the bugger, it's only ~2 minutes to restore...

I believe the Staples flyers are national. If you go into the store, they should have a pile of 'em right there. It's on the last page, bottom left hand corner...

I AM USING IT FOR EXTRA STORAGE. I WASN'T GOING TO GO OUT AND BUY ONE OF THESE FOR 39.99 BUT AT THE REDUCED PRICE I COULD PASS IT UP.

Yes sir! If you look at the case next to the backup module you will see its price listed as $39.99 and the backup module as $24.99. Guess what? They screwed up and have the prices bass akward. Buy buy them backup modules...

You know, I noticed that myself on Sunday but it didn't register

Anyway, here's good one for you all. I've been off from work this week and have been doing my Christmas shopping. Well, of course, I bought myself an early present (thanks to LarryN for pointing it out - by the way, I told my wife it was all your fault! ). When I went to the store on Tuesday to get mine, it was the store manager who helped me. At the register, it rang up at 39.99 but when I showed him and the cashier the flyer, no questions asked, they changed the price to 24.99!

Being the impatient person I am, I opened it in the car, popped it in my VDx, and did a backup! Couldn't have been easier...

Yesterday, I was back at the same Staples to pick up some other things. I pulled out my trusty VDx to check my list (Santa would be proud ), and guess what? Crash! Bang! Boom! I had a fatal error and soft resetting didn't help. So, I do a hard reset and then restore my Visor from the module right there in the store!!! I guess that's the price I had to pay for taking advantage of Staples!!! I think the cybergods must have got me as I walked through the door (you know, those security thingies at the entrance). Oh well, I finally got a backup module, and its usefullness has already proven itself!

<doing my Karl Malden imitation> Don't leave home without it!!!

Post New Rule!

New Rule: Whenever buying ANY sale item at Staples, check the price on the register!

The same thing happened to me at the Peoria AZ store. The register rang up $39.98 instead of the sale price of $24.99.

I wonder how many people purchased the Backup module and paid the full price not knowing about the sale price? Did anyone buy something else that was in the flyer? If yes, what price were you charged?

This sounds like a case for the Better Business Bureau. I could see a couple of stores having problems but this appears to be nationwide.

Dave, I am pretty sure that they just placed the slim leather case price under the backup module, and visa-versa. The case usually costs $24.99, and the backup module sb is usually $39.98.... So, I think it was one of their ususal typos we lucky folk @ VisorCentral partake in quite regularly. I can remember the 8mb Flash sb, and the folding keyboard, off the top 'o the head... Love them type of "sales"

Thanks for the tip guys! My backup module is the single most important Visor accessory I could have. When that screen freezes and there's no way out, the backup module saves the day. I tell every new Visor owner to buy the backup module before they even begin entering data into the Visor.

Remember: unlike a hotsync, the backup module restores everything.

I took advantage of the Staples typo and bought 2 more -- one as a gift for a new Visor owner and the other as a backup to my backup! I carry one with me and keep one at home!
