Unhappy

does anyone know where I can buy a case for my Visor in person, not ordering off the web. One that will protect my trusty blue from anykind of damage to the touch pad by inadvertent drops??????????
Please help.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any such place, though I would LOVE to see one. I had the same problem when I bought my EB Slipper case - I wanted to "test drive" it before buying it, and almost made the trip to San Diego just to visit.

If you're ever in the Santa Clarita area, I'd be happy to show you mine.

If you find a place, let us know!

I just bought a Franklin Covey Sport Binder at CompUSA. At least two of their locations here in Houston have them. They are larger than many cases, as they include a 6 ring binder and paper, dividers, a pen holder and a stylus holder. It's actually designed for the Palm III, but my Visor fits just as well. If you want good protection, this is an excellent choice. All edges of the Visor are from 1/4" to 1" from the edge of the case, so no direct contact with the Visor side is really possible. Between the Visor glass and the outside world is the paper pad, which is longer than the Visor and thus does not touch the glass, instead resting on the leather that surrounds most of the case. Then there's about 1/4" of padding on the front and back of the case itself, adding further protection. So the Visor is really quite isolated from direct contact.
Overall the case is about 7" tall, 5.5" wide and 1.5" thick. It won't fit in your pocket, but I wanted extra storage space anyway, and it offers among the best protection I've seen.

CompUSA also had about 6 other Palm cases that would fit the Visor well. They also had 2 of the Handspring brand cases. The large office supply stores (Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, etc.) will also carry a variety of cases for the Palm III.

I understand your hesitation in buying without seeing. I ordered (and then returned) my first 2 cases from the web. It really is hard to know what you're getting and how it will look and feel without seeing it in person.

You might also check with stores that are not as obvious for this. Fossil makes a very nice leather case. Camera stores also carry a large variety of cases that would hold the Visor quite well and offer good padding and protection.

Good luck.

Just got back from Best Buy - wanted to scope them out to see if I could start avoiding net-based shipping and handling costs.

They have the Handspring slim leather case and Handspring bi-fold (I think that's what they call it) case. Also had some Palm cases, and I think a Franklin Covey case. Oh, yeah, the Fellows "bumper" case that puts a soft rubber shell around the exterior of the Visor/Palm.

Seems like a few options. Best of luck to you.

thank you all, I got my case, I went for the Handspring bi-fold at Best Buys, and I love it. I love the extra room for my business cards. And the note pad is great. Thank you again for your advice and quick response.
