OK - I went and bought a Omnisky modem today. I live in Phoenix, Az -- hardly an 'out of the way' place.

The service is spit! I'm not prepared to stand on my roof with a special antennae stiking out of my, errr, ear -- to get a connection. I had much beter service with my PalmVII (or should I say I 'had service').
Plus, tons of freezes, fatal exceptions, and on and on and on and on. So, I'll take the modem back to Frys Electronics tomorrow and get my $300 back, but, how the hell do I cancel the service from Omnisky? I've been all over their website to try to find out - not that they would want to make this easy -- but it seems impossible. Can someone help?

thanks

(ps -- believe what you read on this forum -- if I had done my homework prior to making this mistake -- I wouldn't have made it!)

Well, first of all, you should try calling them! You'll obviously get a much faster response than anything a website can offer. Why do so many people insist on using the website and spend so much time searching for information when a simple phone call will do the trick (and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for OS cust. serv. or tech support)...I guess I'll never understand.

BTW, I, and several other users here use Omnisky just fine with minimal/no problems. If you haven't downloaded and tried revision C from OS's website, you definitely should. Also, swapping the antenna with the one from a Samsung SCH-3500 offered by Sprint will really help things out. The Palm VII uses a different network that is known to have better coverage. To reduce the fatal errors, never pull the modem out w/o shutting it down first and you should definitely use the "power switch" app (not the "Minstrel" one) to do that. Finally, I know several people here, including myself, were plagued by fatal errors and hard resets during the first couple of days/weeks of service but for some reason, they seem to go away/get reduced with time. Some also just had bad modems so that's something to consider as well.
