Prism seems to be dead

This morning, my wife's prism locked up. I tried doing a soft reset and it shows the logo and then the screen just goes white. Haven't done a hard reset yet(Not sure I remember how) but can anyone give any hints as to what may be wrong?

Edit to say, Actually a soft reset does nothing. I was actually doing a hard reset, the Palm computing logo comes up and then the screen goes white. I never get asked if I want to erase all the data.

Is it Dead? It's at least 2 and maybe 3 years old. Is it even worth attempting to

Try a soft reset while charging in the cradle.
