The mic is connected to pins 60 (+) and 61 (-) of the Springboard connector. It is not connected to anything else on the Visor.

Consequently, only Springboards can use it. For example, the 6-Pack from Innogear will record a couple of hours of voice using the mic and the 6-Pack's 8 meg.

So, it's a forward-looking feature that you need to use via additional hardware.

Rumour has it that the microphone was put on the bottom so that it would be in the perfect place for a cell-phone module.
