Question

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I've been contemplating getting the Visor deluxe, and I caught a deal on it today and I'm curious if this is the best way to go. http://www.bigbigsavings.com says:

Staples.com (VERY HOT!!) - GREAT Handspring Deal!
Get a Handspring Visor Deluxe for only $199.98 after a $50 rebate, plus we have a $40 off coupon you can use! (Click Here for coupons that you can use with this purchase!) - (Expires Apr 30, 2001)

So basically after applying the $40 off coupon, and getting the $50 rebate back, my final cost will be $159.98 and shipping will be free. Has anyone done this?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Anjelo

There have been several posts that Target is selling the Deluxe for $199.00 plus the $50.00 rebate for a total of $150.00. Hope this is helpful.

GSR13, I am reading that thread right now and have spent the last few minutes at target and I can't find it anywhere! I do a search for "visor" and the page comes up blank, and if you search for visor deluxe, it can't find it. Could it be sold out?

Thanks.

I also just realized something. Could you not get the visor for 109.99 if you do a pricematch at Staples? As far as I know, staples will match the lowest price you can find, so if you show them the $199 target price, they should reduce your price to $199 before the $50 rebate and $40 coupon, so you end up paying just under $110. If that's true, that would be a really good deal. I think I may have stumbled onto something, hmmm. Any thoughts?

first... target.com doesn't have it! it IS in their ad this week! 199 for the VDx!

i did the price match through staples a couple weeks ago! it wasn't in the ad at that time, but had read somewhere (here?) about it being 199... called target.... sure enough! so called staples.com... they called a target (not sure which one... but they did ask for my zip code... and then i gave them the coupon code... i had to ad an item though... so added a 2.42 pencil cup... cuz 199 is NOT 200... to get the 40 off!!

paid tax on the after coupon price!!!!! received my Vdx next day... free shipping!!!! returned the Vdx i had just received from amazon.com a week prior!

so it does work! basically 109.... but staples charges tax in all states (that have tax) if they have a physical store in that state! which i venture to say is most states... so unless you are from vermont.... then it's a bit more then 109... but still the best deal going!

Question

How do you get the price match in the store, then get the $40 off online deal?

Question

Also, someone in another thread recommended getting the Target card and getting 10% off your first purchase.

Does anyone think that HS will drop the price of the VDX to <$200? It seems unlikely to happen anytime soon as they just dropped the price of the Visor to $180. However, I really believe that the VDX is over priced at $250 in today's market. I guess that's why they extended the $50 rebate until the end of April. I believe that HS will drop the price of the VDX to $200 in May. Just as Palm ran a $50 rebate on the IIIxe and then dropped the price by $50 the very next month.

Well, it doesn't seem that HS has any intentions of reducing the prices of the Visor, and VDX.

"There will also be no immediate price reductions on the Visor family to match Palm's recent changes."

Thumbs down watch out for the "free" items at bigsavings.com

The idea of getting the double rebate from Staples.com is great - I am going to use it this week to get the VDX for $110 as a gift for my wife.

BUT, be careful with the CYBERREBATE Free stuff from bigsavings.com (or any other rebate place for that matter). Why?
Well here are the prices of some items before Rebate:
Sony 900mhz phone: $700 (street price $120)
Sony Boom Box: $1700 !!! (stree $400)
This is even funnier-
Palm M105: $1800 (Street - I cant stop laughing :-)

And here is the catch line: "We send you your rebate check 10-14 weeks after we receive your rebate submission."

Now take $1800 into a high interest account (the kind that banks have for credit cards or short term loans) and you can get an APR of 20% = 1800x0.2= $360. Well, who wants to bet that 10-14 weeks is actually more like 20 weeks = 4-5 months! and $360/3 = $120. They pocket more than the street price of $100 !!

Of course you could say this is "business" but what happens when your $1800 is with them and they conveniently go bankrupt?

What a fraud! I hope this is being investigated by some Consumer Organization. Be wary - and stay away!

it's not a double rebate from staples... it's a PRICE MATCH at staples, then a coupon code ($40 off a $200 purchase) you get that $40 off the price match right up front... however... i would wait and mention the coupon once they got you your price match! and it is an official rebate from handspring...

also... you only pay tax on $160... they deduct the coupon BEFORE they charge tax!

as i stated above... at this time it is the BEST deal on a VDx... and even if handspring drops their prices to 199... this is still the best deal.. cuz you still get their $50 rebate... which i'm sure they will stop is they drop the price!

in todays market the VDx is NOT work $249... but it sure is worth $110 !!!!!!!

as for cyberrebate... i'm a more savvy shopper than that!

I

I took the bait and did the price match/coupon+free shipping/rebate thing with Staples.com. Actually, I convinced two other people to do it, too. For a little bit of leg work, it's so worth it. I was totally out of internal memory on my 2mb Visor (I have a flash module, but that wasn't helping the internal data storage). I ordered my Visor Dx on Wednesday and I received it yesterday morning. I was just looking at/trying out the Prism, Platinum and Edge last weekend at OfficeMax. I couldn't justify spending that much money for something that I really didn't need. This deal couldn't have come at a better time for me.

Now, I just have to find someone to bid on my Visor Jr. on eBay. I threw in my GoType and the leather slipcase that came with my Dx hoping that it would lure more people in - I'll just have to wait and see. My little brother just might be getting a Visor to mess around with.

I just bought my VDX from Staples online using this method. Now, what hoops did you guys jump through to get the $50 Handspring rebate?

Mark, you just need to go to the Handspring website and print off the rebate form. You will need a receipt from Staples and the UPC code off of the box to sent with it. Just so you know, I had to go to Staples's website and print off an order confirmation/receipt; I did not receive one from Staples when they shipped my Visor. By the way, you have to send in your rebate by April 30.

That should work.

Thanks for the info MoKoni. My price (including tax) is $173. After Handspring's rebate it will be $123, which is a really good deal any way you look at it.

I've been mostly a lurker on VisorCentral for over a year, it feels great to take the plunge. Now I'll need software, Springboards, a Stowaway, a case . . . saving money by purchasing this VDX is going to drive me to the poorhouse.

Evangelize!

When I told a friend of mine at my work about the potential for a $109 Vdx, he bought one immediately. That was Wednesday. By Friday, three others in my group alone took Staples up on their offer as well! We have this joke that our meetings are now going to be silent where we beam stuff to each other instead of talking....

From May 1- 4? what deals? I can't find a valid Staples rebate offer.

Any other options? (I checked mysimon and shopbot, what a front-end for a select few stores.)

Staples has two current coupon offers that I know of: $30 off a $150 purchase (coupon code 91528) or $15 off a $100 purchase (coupon code 91537). Both offers expire on May 18. Plus, according to another thread, I see that Handspring has extended the rebate offer to Friday, May 4, so you can get a new VDX for about $180 (plus free shipping).

If you go to dealfinders and do a search for Staples, you will find coupon offers for $25 off of a $100 purchase, $30 off $150, & $40 off $200. With the rebate, this would bring your final cost to $160.

http://www.edealfinder.com/

The other question is whether there are any sale prices being offered anywhere else that you could have Staples match before applying the coupon, which would lower your final price even more. Good luck.

Don't count on the Rebate

The $50 Rebate is not good for any price below $249. I unfortunately learned this by buying the product for less than $249 at a local store and trying to get the rebate. I personally think it is a crock, Target is selling the Visor Deluxe for $199 and is making no mention of the fact that the rebate cannot be used.
