Question

I have a windows software (stockvue 2000, http://www.stockvue.com) that can export data to palm devices through file links. I tried to enable file links in my Handspring Palm Desktop, and I cannot seem to do it. Are there any special software/driver/conduit that I need to install so that I can enable File Linking in my BVD? Has anybody ever tried using file linking in their visor?

Odd.. I just tried the filesync thing (b4 I read the above message) and am getting a "No applications that support filesync installed blah blah blah" error.

After reading the filesync faq on palm's site, I had wanted to try setting up some shared address book categories on my lan. According to the faq, it SHOULD just be a matter of accessing a dat file in a shared directory, not requiring any 'application' to be installed.

Inny eyedears?

Well, just tried upgrading to the newest version of Palm Desktop from HS. Still no go.

Oddly enough, I tried it on my wummun's computer (vdx usb) and file link works fine.

Must be some software thang. Perhaps a naughty 3rd party conduit.

You do need to have the default application conduits installed. It will not work if you're running a conduit such as TrueSync.

I had installed Truesync (for Yahoo) earlier, but disabled it. It's still listed in the Hotsync Mgr Custom dialog but is set for Native conduits.

I'm gonna get rid of it completely... I'm also wondering if it could be that I've installed palm desktop into a non-std directory (c:\palm instead of c:\program files...)

We'll see..

Unhappy

I've already uninstalled TS and did a reboot, but still I'm having the same errors. Could it be the Pocketmirror conduit?

Hmmm.. I have avantgo and paypal coduits installed, do you think either one of these are the culprits?

"Could it be the Pocketmirror conduit?"

Yes. File Link does not work with Pocket Mirror. You must be syncing to Palm Desktop for file linking to work.

That's sad. I think i'd rather stick with the pocketmirror conduit. I wish they'd do something about this.
