just got a message from handspring about the beta windows 2000 usb drivers being available. I downloaded them, and so far I am very happy. I was able to finally hotsync! Handspring is once again on my good side.

Unhappy

I installed the software, set the Visor in the cradle, hit the button, and nothing happened on the desktop side. Anyone been able to get this to work?

Thanks for posting that link. At first when I hit the button nothing happened Then I just pulled out the USB cable and connected it to the other port and tried again. IT WORKED!!! Felt like I had been holding my breath for the last month. Good job Handspring.

Red face

How about someone mirroring it?? Handspring took it down awfully fast....

Hmm...are you all in cahoots, and this is an early AF joke?

I was impressed with the beta drivers. I synced a few times, but after I rebooted, win2k no longer recognized my visor! aahh. What could be wrong? Anyone else have this problem? ARGH!!!!

Can someone send me those drivers also? I still don't quite understand why Handspring is being so tight about releasing beta drivers. Its not like its a hot new technology breakthrough or anything..

The beta is a closed beta and no one but authorized testers should have a copy. The full release will be soon.

P.S. Don't shoot the messenger

Question

I have the drivers and they work great but NOWHERE in the email I received did it say ANYTHING about this being a closed BETA or anything?

Had I known that it was supposed to be a closed beta, I would never have put the download location up.

Could someone please verify to me that this was a CLOSED beta because if not then everyone that needs them should be able to download them.......

The original email that was sent to me on March 22, told me that is was supposed to be a closed beta. The link that was given in that email took me to a page that I had to agree to not disclose the drivers to anyone else.

There was nothing in the email and I didn't bother to read the Web page - I just wanted to download the drivers.......

I guess I should read more carefully - I figured that the NDA would be in the email and I assumed that the drivers were for everyone...... SORRY.

That is what confuses me, the link that you posted went straight to the download. The link that I had went to another page with the NDA on it. So according to everything that you said, you had no idea that it was NDA and there was no way for you to know. so I wouldn't worry about if I were you.

Cool

After a few reboots, I noticed that the Visor wasn't being seen by Windows 2000 as a USB device, but once the palm desktop software was removed and reinstalled, it worked like a charm.
Just in case someone was wondering or had this problem. ;-)
