I have used my visor deluxe for over a year with the serial port and no problems. I am trying to change to a USB port but when I attempt to hot sync, the handheld can't find my PC. I tried rebooting after hooking up the USB and tried a soft reset. Any other Ideas?

When you click on the HotSync Manager icon in the systray of your Win98/ME/2K computer, is "Local USB" checked?

If not, try that.

If that option is not there, I'd try (after backing up your user directory) reinstalling the Handspring software but only selecting a "Custom" installation and just selecting the HotSync Manager option. That'll reinstall just the HotSync components and you may see an additional option to chose USB, Serial or Both.

For best results, I'd use the latest software (3.1.1, I believe) from the Handspring web site to do that.

Talking

thanks for the advice
I was worried about reinstalling because of the interaction between the installed version and ePocrates, avantGo, and others. I also dropped handspring a note, and guess what??--They've got a software patch, and
IT WORKED.
Thanks for the input.
