Angry

I just got my unit yesterday. So far I have to do the soft reset every time before Hotsync. It would not Hotsync w/o reset. It is starting to annoy me.

I decreased the speed from "As fast as possible" down to 19200 baud. It seems to work every time now. But we just have to wait and see.

I was wrong. It does not work every time. I still have to soft reset for it to work. Anybody finds a fix please post.
Thanks,
Saran

Cool You guys rule!!! One person's happy ending...

I had this problem a month ago, THOUGHT I had fixed it by deleting and reinstalling the registry, etc, etc...

Last night, hotsynced fine. This am (8 hours later), no dice.... I thought "WHAT GIVES...", all i did in the interim was sleep...

Got on this website, read things that either talked about putting your thumb on the cradle, registry things I already tried, or hocus pocus rebooting stuff. Didn't believe a word, but what did I have to lose.

PIN resetted the visor, wiped the pins of the visor and the cradle with my thumb (suggestion: wipe the donut off your hands first), popped it in the cradle, and VOILA, the little screen popped up saying "Handspring cradle detected, installing driver..."

Thanks guys....

I'm having difficulty getting Win2k to even see my USB cradle anymore. All my other USB devices (mice etc.) work fine. I jam my cradle in either port and nothing happens. I check in control panel and it says that that USB port is empty. Is there any solution to this? I think it may be that my cradle is shot but I don't want to jumpt the gun and buy a new one if others are experiencing similar problems and have possible solutions. I wish there were a way to test the cradle....

Thanks for the help,

Arker.

#&^$*$#&^#@$ VDx!

It seems that I can sync EVERYTHING but my mail (Netscrape). I've tried everything! I'm getting to the point where I just hard-reset my VDx and see what happens then... any help?!

Bzzzz! Wrong answer!

Current Handspring software has been allowing me to sync to Win2000 via USB for months.

Needed soft reset

Thanks for this very useful post. I had my Visor synched every day for months now and solved my little problem with a soft reset as recommended in this post. Saved me the effort of starting a new post.

Man, you think you guys have problems, I haven't been able to get to get my Visor to sync since 12/04/00!!!! I've tried every solution in this thread except to try syncing w/a different PC. I'm tempted to go buy a serial cradle, just so I can verify if it is a visor hardware problem.I am soooo frustrated with Handspring tech support, they seem completly unable to figure out what's wrong.
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Won't Sync? Try This....

Christ, I went through hell a couple of weeks ago...not only wouldn't my Visor sync, it went from working fine to not even being recognized by my computer as anything other than an "Unknown USB Device". I brought my serial port cradle home and it worked fine...but two USB units later it still wouldn't sync.

Come to find out the pick-ups on my Visor Unit were encrusted with a strange sugary substance that, once removed, allowed the USB cradle(s) to work just fine.

Talking Thanks!

I'm so glad this forum exists! I was having syncing problems, which was really messing things up and all I needed was the soft reset. It is syncing as I type :-)

Talking Finally!!!

Well, after two months (and $50 Long Distance), HS finally sent me a replacement Visor. Turns out it was a hardware problem all along. Go figure.
