Hi Guys and Girls,

I am looking for an inexpensive black case for my Visor. I currently own a Rhinoskin Shocksuit, which is great for my everyday work atmosphere, but I am looking for a good black case for a more formal occasions. My shock suit does not look to good when I am wearing a suit. Something with a belt clip, as well as screen protection, as I dont use the stock screen protector.(I am trying to prevent those cracks many people have been complaining about)

Any Ideas?

That depends on how you define "inexpensive". If you can afford $30 or so, go for the Rhodiana Visor case. Otherwise, I think the leather slip case coming with the Visor Deluxe is enough (no need to use the plastic cover).

It's best to call the guy up; he knows which case fits the Visor.

It does have a *slightly flexible* plastic insert in the front flap, which provides some protection for the screen. I choose to use the Visor's screen cover in the case, which seems pretty protected. Aren't we all able to flip that screen cover around in our sleep by now?

The truly great feature of this case is that the belt strap runs from the bottom of the case to the top, and the Visor comfortably rides either below or above the belt. The latter arrangement makes for comfortable sitting down w/out stressing device or gouging leg/gut/whatever. This case will *never* fall off on it's own, unlike some of the other belt-clip solutions we've seen reported. And the belt-loop latch is convenient, yet heavy duty and secure.

The Pouch ends up being a pocket above your pants pocket that doesn't interfere w/ sitting or gettting stuff out of the pants pocket. Looks a little geeky perchance; some of us embrace geek functionality as a fashion statement, no? Or it can ride below the belt, and you just make a point to adjust it when you sit.

In terms of protection, I must admit that a quarter inch of neoprene isn't the same as titanium. However, the case ends up riding reasonably close to other unprotected but very important items, so I'm generally aware of activities and items that might threaten the general area anyway. (Moreso than back or shirt pockets, anyway...)

And it has a pocket on the back for batteries, paper clips, or a Springboard or two.

Pleasant purchasing experience, quick delivery, quality product. Works for me.

For me, small size was very important in the case as well as having it replace my wallet (the whole point of buying the Visor - datebook/checkregister/calculator/addressbook/games/etc ). One of the biggest reasons I chose the visor was that it was smaller than a lot of the competition. The only serious size competition it had was the Palm V and the expension slot and much lower price finally got me over to Visor's camp (plus the 30 day trial period - day 28 and counting and loving it! )

Part of my issue is I don't wear a belt to hook it on too and I have only a maximum of two pockets typically. So, space is at a premium.

Additionally I wanted it to be syncable in the case (impossible with most cases), highly protective of the visor (especially the screen and buttons), allow for a larger possible future Springboard (e.g., MiniJam), and have space for a real pen, spare batteries, money, credit cards, drivers license, etc. Hmm... I need to fit a larger volume into a smaller sized space. Looks like I might need transdimensional engineering here... Of course though, you've heard of origami and tesseracts!

Lastly, NOTHING could interfere with usablility of the Visor! Oooo... The crowd is on the edge of their seats, the suspense builds

I looked at a lot of the cases out there and virtually all of them are too big for my tastes and rarely elegant enough to boot.

Sooo... I designed and made my own. I am very pleased with it. It is a three fold design, uses a leather like fabric over aluminum. It carries everything I wanted and measures just 2.1cm x 12cm x 8.8cm at max when filled with money, credit cards, 2 extra batteries, a top quality real pen, etc, and the Visor of course. That is actually smaller than the Visor + cover in the case that came with my Visor Deluxe package (3.5cm x 13.3cm x 8.3cm). Neither has a belt clip, but either could have one added. In fact, now that I at it, because of the three fold design in mine it has a built in belt clip, I just never use it or thought of it that way... Too bad I don't have a belt!

So, if you don't see what you like out there, try making your own and you may come up with a better design that fits your own needs to a Tee.

Pubwvj - Can you give us any more info on how you made your case? Or do you perhaps have any pictures? Your design sounds very intriguing.

I bought a cheap camera case at the Wal-Mart photo department for $5.47!!!. It's got a belt loop on the back and closes with Velcro. Measures approx 3 x 5 or so.

Not the prettiest thing I've ever seen but until I find the "perfect" case, I figured the six bucks was a good investment.

I believe the manufacturer is C&N and the model # is CCN-10. They also have a slightly larger one (maybe 4 x 6) for about $7.50 that I think will hold the Visor and the StowAway keyboard.

pubwvj,

could you check the case size in your post? the size of my slip case which came with my visor is much smaller than you said. especially the thickness, just a little bit more than 2cm even with the hard cover on. It is very hard to make a case smaller than the slip case.

Actually, I believe that a case made of neoprene would actually be better than a titanium hard case - think about it - the neoprene case ABSORBS shock - a fully metal case would TRANSMIT shock directly to the Visor sitting inside. This is why Rhinoskin titanium cases actually still have a layer of padding inside - to absorb shock. The only good thing about a titanium case (other than the fact that it looks cool) is to protect the Visor against being stepped on or being rolled over by a bicycle - I'm not even sure (and this is purely my opinion) that it would withstand a motorbike or a car running over it.

I recently recieved my DVP3 black leather case from Devian. It arrive within 3 business days and for 29 bucks, it serves my purposes perfectly. It is small, has room for credit cards, spare batteries(snug!) and has a pad to jot notes down in a hurry. It also fits in a jacket pocket. I also purchased/received a stylus plus. It fits into the case with only about 1/4" sticking out, although the case still zips all the way around. In my mind, the two of them for 50 bucks, are a great combination!!!

Check out the leather E&B Slipper from www.ebcases.com . It is very well made, costs $32, has a great belt clip, fits the Visor like a glove and is very elegant and professional looking. You can also hotsync in the case which is very convenient. It actually looks better than the pictures on the web site. I am very happy with mine.
