Question

My decision to get a Visor has not been an impulse buy in fact, because of monetary contraints, I still have yet to purchase it. Having waited this long I have cycled through wanting ALL of the colors. But since I only am buying one, and have never seen a real Visor with my own eyes except for the photos provided by Handspring, I would like to know everyone's opinions on the different colors. I would like to know which colors are most the most popular as well as which are the least pleasing to the eye.

Thanks

I myself got the graphite visor. It is more professional looking, in my opinion. I almost got a blue one, but changed my mind at the last minute. After seeing all of the colors in person at my local CompUsa, I would have to say the best looking ones are the graphite, blue and green. Ice is ok, but I don't think it's anything special. I didn't like the orange much at all, but I don't really care for the color orange much at all, so I am biased. Basically, I'd say go for the color you'd feel most comfortable with. If you're in a professional job and might be a little embarased pulling out a blue visor, go for graphite. If you don't care, go for your favorite color. They are all nice.

I really like the color of my green VDx. It's an extremeley soothing green, not too dark, not too light.

However, I do run in to significant problems when it's lying next to my green Nokia phone -- The Nokia green is peculiarly frog-colored, while the Visor green has a little bit of a bluish tint.

But it _doesn't_ look professional, and as a 24 year-old trying to hold my own in the consulting world, I often (more than once a week) wish that I had chosen graphite or ice.

I am very pleased with my Blue, and my wife loves her Ice. With the Ice, you see the green circuit board, so it has a greenish shade to it. Looks really cool with the green-tipped stylus from the 5-pack! I've seen the Graphite, and while it really beats Palm Gray, the colors sure are more fun.

I work in business also, but people have only had good reactions to the color so far. Mostly they are just impressed with what I can do with it.

Go with what you like!

I went for Graphite. As mentioned above, it looks more professional and you tend to think of it more as a tool than a toy. Having seen the colored ones displayed, they just look too schmaltzy for my tastes. Then again, professionalism isn't everyone's main criterion (high school student, for intance).

Keep in mind that Graphite will be the default choice of Springboard manufacturers. If you're going to go for a non-Graphite model, try Blue or Ice, which seem like they're going to the secondary choice for modules. It's hard to imagine many module offered in Orange or Green options.

I got the ice VDx. I was thinking about the Blue one, but I saw how all the accessories either came in graphite or ice so I took the ice. It is also very neural for putting it in a case, like the RhinoSport Skin that I have on order.

It also matches my clear Playstation controller. I think I have a theme here.

p.s. is it just me or should companies try to make the internals of their gear look better if they are going to have clear cases?

I got a Blue VDX with the Handspring matching Blue case. I too am a consultant and I don't feel that the "graphite is more business acceptable" thinking is all that relevant. The colors are not garish or harsh. They tend to be a little more towards the pastel shades. I have used mine in front of CEOs, VPs and other levels of mgmt as well as worker bees and never had a comment about the color other than to have some of them ask what other colors they come in. I would have bought a purple one, had Handspring offered that color. Get the one you like. Go to Staples, Best Buy or CompUSA and look at the colors in person and then make your choice.

Ice, ice, baby!

Seriously, I liked the clear Visor. I just wish more of the modules will be produced in the ice paradigm.

I bought the one that does.

I work in a techno field and my Blue VDX has not hampered me in the least. Granted we are supposed to be eccentric, but most of the people that I have had to project a professional image to are so overpowered by technology that they view colors as less threatening and it seems to be much more acceptable.

I personally would like to see MORE colors. I would have bought a purple and a red case if it was available and I'm still trying to convince the folks at PALMCOLORS to produce aftermarket cases for VISORS.

My VDX is a hybrid. I used to have graphite, which is excellent in office situations. I recently took a Blue casing and put the blue top on my graphite bottom so now I have a customized Visor like no one else!

It still looks the same on the front as a normal blue (bottom may be darker) but has the graphite back that most of the Springboard modules seem to be.

I have a graphite, not because I didnt entertain other colors, but becasue thats all that Staples had. I am a person who takes FOREVER to make a decision, so Staples only having the graphite made it a no brainer. In retrospect, I think I like the graphite the best, and I probably would have ultimatly selected it. I don't like the semi-translucency of the colors.

Buy the color you like, and if you feel uncomfortable in business situations, buy a Rhodiana pack and nurture the unique joy of being a clandestine chromatic rebel.

I got a graphite, to match my cat.

I bought the IVD, for the following reasons:

1. It wasn't too "wacky"
2. I dig see-through electronics
3. It very clearly marked it as not a Palm Pilot, causing PP owners to be jealous

I like Orange, but every time I looked at it I got a major craving for a big glass of orange Kool-Aid, so I got Ice instead. It looks nICE, except it has a cheap look in comparison to the Graphite or a Palm V.

I don't mind color per se, but I do wish Handspring or Palmcolors would make casings that are opaque instead of translucent. The see-through fad is getting a little old. What I'd really love is to have the metallic blue of my Sony Vaio laptop.

I had an Ice VDx and changed to Graphite. The ice color looks cheap like a toy from the dollar store - it isn't translucent, its more frosty. Graphite is much more professional and now matches my Compaq laptop. Anyway all my coworkers like the new one better.

I have an ICE one. It's OK. The clear, colored plastic, iMac wannabe thing is REALLY old now. The Ice is OK, as it is all one color, but people still ask to see my new "gameboy".

I really bought the ICE to match my new G4. Which it does.

The Graphite is nice too, not as nice as the Palms, but nice.

I love my visor, but I will say that, for whatever reason, IDEO seemed to push the Palm Pilot line towards a more streamlined, business exec type of aesthetic and pushed the Visors more towards the young, trendy crowd. I've never really found the Visor to be great industrial design. It's nice, but they could have taken it a step further.

I'd LOVE to see someone make an "after-market" case for the visors in a variety of materials (namely, aluminum).

Just my opinion...

I don't think that it really matters that there won't be any orange or green modules, the back side of all of the colours except graphite is ice anyway. (this is the one reason I got graphite instead of blue... I thought it should have been blue front and back, not half blue half ice)
