Cool

I taken some fairly high resolution pictures of my new Prism.

Here is a link to the "Album"

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Albu...4&a=9521307

************* Update ***************
WOW! - I hoped this would be of interest to VisorCentralites, but I had no idea how popular it would be.

In the first 2.5 days, the pictures have been viewed over 6000 times!
************************************

Requests/Questions/Comments are encouraged.

ALSO - If you have a picture of your Prism you think I should add to the Album, email it to me. I'll add it, along with whatever description you provide.

Dave

"Chrome" Version 1.1 Beta from http://www.twinkletwinkle.com

It allows you to customize the display.

Question

Was it hard to squeeze it in your E&B slipper??

Also where did you get that QWERTY sticker? I use the FITALY-stamp and had to go through the learning curve to find the letters again....

Is the right hole in the bottom a mic or just a hole??

p.s. nice pics!

The "hole" at the bottom right is the led light the blinks when the visor is charging and lights steadily when fully charged. The mic in still on the left.

It's a bit of a struggle to get into (and out of) the slipper case. I'm just happy that it more or less works.

Sorry, I can't remember the manufacturer of the "keyboard". I've got the info at work. I'll post it tomorrow if nobody else answers your question before then.

Question Grafitti area?

Dave...

Some great pics. Question--The keyboard layout over the graffitti area, is that a sticker or is that the actual display? When you tap on "abc" to reveal the keyboard, is this what you get with the Prism? If so that's really cool.

When the unit is off, is the entire screen black, including the grafitti area?

Would you be able to post some side-by-side pics of a Deluxe and the Prism? Maybe some pics of the default white background on the Prism too. I'm really interested in readability between the two models.

Notice in difference in battery life with that black backround?

TIA,
David

Dave,

The "keyboard" is an add-on sticker. I'll post the manfacturer's info when I get to work tomorrow.

The grafitti area is the same as on the deluxe, just the screen is black.

Great idea about the pictures, I'll take some side by side's with my blue dlx and add them to the album shortly.

As for battery life, I really doubt that reversing the colors will make any difference.

Thanks Dave... those side-by-side shots are exactly what I wanted to see to help me decide whether to buy the Prism. I'm sold!

Isn't that the Silkyboard from Softava?

Good job, thus far.
Could we make a few requests (realizing, of course, you have a life, and can't devote it all to this)?
Could you post a few shots of some of the color apps (that use color well)?
Could you post at least one color map?
Could you post a few AvantGo pages?
Could you post a few shots of famous celebrities, so we could compare with images we're basically familiar with? Maybe one of those old "90210" or "Melrose Place" cast-photos, so we can see how evenly the shots work across a spectrum of faces?
The dog's cute, of course, but basically all white.
The sunset seems a bit dark, though maybe because the backlight's at minimum.
I'm really impressed w/the "ordinary readability" of the plain text screen (and also the "home" screen) vs. the Dlx.
I'll probably get a Prism asap.
Thanks again!

David,
This web site has a good photo of two so you can look at the difference in thickness. http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/news/2000/10/16/newvisor.htm
Take care.

Kenneth...

Thanks for the link. The Prism is less thick than I thought it would be.

bkbk,

I'll see what I can do by way of more screen shots. I'll also see if I can improve the quality of the pictures. The "banding" that is showing in my photos (of the active screen) is not really there. Must have something to do with the screen refresh.

So sdavida...

In your opinion, is the white text on the black background easier to see vs the default setting? Or is it simply a matter of personal preference?

TIA,
David

It seems a little easier to me, but it's probably mostly personal preference.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's quite readable in anything other than bright sunlight, but if you're reading in a dark room, that white background can be very bright (even turned down).

Talking New Pics

I've added a few close-ups of the screen.

I think that this is a bad posting of pictures for those interesed in the prism. This is not an out of box configuration. Out of box, is color on white background and there is not keyboard stencil pasted onto the front of the Visor. Perhaps this gentleman is selling something ?
