Question

So, the Edge has been released. It's super-thin, super-cool--and super-monochrome, so I won't be getting it. :^) So, the question is...what about the Visor Snap and Visor Twist? Are these expected to be released in a few months? And if so, what are they? I don't really buy the "Visor Twist==SuperTwist LCD" argument--would you call a passenger jet a Boeing RR if it had Rolls-Royce engines? I do hope they get a thin(ner) color device though--that would be so cool... :^)

Lightbulb Just a thought....

I hope that I am wrong here, but I would deduce that the snap & twist could be to SNAP on the Springboard modules for the Visor Edge and TWIST the attached cover backalthough flip would have been a better word.

I dont know, like I said, I hope that I am wrong and that a new Color Edge with an improved LCD display is on the way

My two cents.Josh

I agree.

I've posted this before:

I think that handsprign regestered the 3 domains, becasue it couldn't pick which one it wanted as the name for the edge at that time. So to be safe, that they could get that name, they regestered the domain, so that it would stay theres. In the end they picked Edge.

I don't belivethere wil be a new visor for at least another 2 months BUT

than again, handspring has bee nreleasing the visors in pairs.. Deluxe and Solo, Pla. And prism, And I don't count the Black Plat, as being a 2nd visor.. IT's jsut a different case. so..

For some reason, I dont' belive that they hadn't chosent he name of the new visor when they made those site registrations. The name of a device is one of the first things that is chosen, and anyways, they had to make the tools to put the name "Edge" on the visor a LONG time ago, much before they registered those names.

Well if companies do anything like the entertainment industry they will go through hundreds of names/titles before they settle on a final one. Sometimes they don't even have a name/title for something right up until it is introduced to the public. Granted with production they would have had to have something so it could be manufactured. But the software packaging and cases are made with relative ease right now, and they could have not come up with a name for the EDGE until a few months ago.

As someone on here posted before.generally companys dont mark down products or give rebates/incentives unless they want to move their inventory to make room for new product. Computer companys are notorious for giving rebates a few months before they release a new product so they can clear off their shelves.

BUT here is the kicker, the rebate is ONLY through the Handspring website. You cant get the free backup module and other goodies if you buy the Visor from any other source but Handspring. I would think that major retailers would be pissed if Handspring only offered a rebate for customers of their website knowing that a new product was on the way. Some sort of lawsuit I think would result for bundling items for Handsprings gain and not offer the same or comparable deal to retailers of their products.

Anywaysthats my 2

Talking soft and twist

hey, you guys remember "roll-up keyboard" thread? you know, that soft keyboard made out of some kind of textile, and you can roll it, drop it, wash it, such and such.

I thought it would be cool if they make visor out of same thing so the whole thing is kinda soft...

and name it TWIST!!!

you could put this "soft visor" in pant's pocket, too...

www.elektex.com for "soft keyboard" and "softphone"

...see, trend went for see-through plastic=>metallic, 'cos you can make it thinner that way and look professional. now it should get tough(waterproof and shock proof).

and then it get so small, it will be size of two SB module, having TFT screen on it. well you can snap that, right?

Had I a thought on what the TWIST might be, maybe a reversed Visor phone springboard, (twisted 180 degrees) so that way folks don't grease up the display with their cheek when they use the phone...
