Exclamation

Howdy,

I managed to crack my screen big time. Anyone know if it is possible to replace/repair just the screen?

The visor still seems to be working (i.e. buttons work) but lcd screen no longer accepts input from styli.

Thanks

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Screen repairs/replacements

As long as you are under warranty. We'll soon be coming up on the time period where that 1st year is starting to run out for people. There are a couple of sites that deal with replacment glass and lcd elements for the Palm IIIx series, and I think we can use those as replacments.

Note - I do not run, and have not used any of these sites,
so I don't/can't recommend any. These are the two I can
remember from off the top of my head. You can search google for "replacment glass for palm pilot" and pick up more links.

I don't think broken screens are a part of the warranty. When I broke mine, it was an $85 for a new one. They didn't ask about my warrantly period.

$85 isn't bad for a new Visor, but I could have gotten a hell of a case for that

Call them up, they'll send you a new visor for 85$ and you send them your old visor. They will pay for shipping and handling not to mention my new one came with one of the metal stylus's instead the cheap plastic one the came with the original.

Wink Thanks, you guys are great!

Thanks,

You guys are great...

I'll post a new question in a separate thread, which will be whether anyone knows for sure if a hard reset completely zeros out the memory, fully erasing the data on it.

Thanks again.

Question

I broke my LCD screen this afternoon and was told that I would get my replacement by Tuesday. However, this is my question: When I called I was told it would cost $85 to fix the screen. He then mentioned something about 2 weeks and maybe having to pay full price for the new Visor they were sending me. I'm lost. Would I have to pay full price if the broken Visor I'm sending them is completley dead? Do they expect me to give back the replacement Visor once the screen is fixed?

Does it make a difference if you break the screen or just the case? I ask because I just called their CustomerCare number (888-565-9393) about my Visor's case being cracked by the power button and they are sending me, free of charge, a totally new Orange Visor Deluxe and I just need to drop my old one into their return box and mail it to them postage paid. Maybe I didn't get charged because they can just replace the Orange part of my case and then ship it out the door to someone else... Of course, I had to give them a credit card number just in case I decide to keep both Visors!

By the way, mine was still under warranty (I had to wait just over a month when I bought mine last year, 10/29).

Anyone know their official policy on this?

Hi there,
I cracked my screen recently, and paid the $85.00 for a new screen.
They sent out a new one, which I got in a couple of days.
(There was a problem initially...the first one they sent was just a BOX...that's it... no visor!)
I popped my old one the courier pack they supplied and that's it.
Quite a decent way to do things I must say. Not having to wait weeks on end is great.
