Question

I'm interested in reducing the number of gadgets on my bat belt. A visorphone would help. I currently have email forwarded to my Nokia phone. I belive it gets converted along the way to an SMS message and hence is truncated to whatever that standard allows for (80 chars? 132chars? whatever. It's too dang short.)

I've looked at the Yada Yada which definitley would get me surfing the net and receiving emails.

I've looked at the Visor phone which would have me making phone calls and surfing the web (blazer?). It mentions ability to send SMS message (yahoo). If I install an email program on my visor, can it utilize the Visor phone to dialout for email on occassion? And will the phone wakeup and receive email for me?

Or put another way: Is it possible for to get voice, voicemail, paging, email, websurfing, contact management, calendaring, memo book (etc etc - all PDA apps) in one device yet? If not now, when?

Thanks!

I use the Eudora palm client for e-mail, and I was sending e-mail as soon as my phone got a full charge. I am not aware of any way for the phone to wake up and notify you of e-mail, but all you have to do to send & receive it is configure your network setting in prefs. If your cell provider offers e-mail, then you may be able to get some kind of notification when a message arrives. If not, there is always SMS (limited as it is)

Hope this helps!

Thanks Tuffy.

How about setting up scheduling in Eudora? Many POP3 clients allow you to poll for mail on a schedule. Is that a feature of the Palm version?

I am using version 2.0 of the Eudora Palm suite. I looked through my options, but didn't see anything that would allow me to automatically schedule mail checks. There was a newer version, but the last I checked, it was still in beta, so it is possible they could have added the feature. I'm not aware of any palm mail program that does this, but I didn't investigate too heavily since I wanted Eudora from the jump. Good luck!
