All of a sudden I couldn't sync with my serial cradle anymore. I've been connecting several times daily, but suddenly nothing happened. Zip. Nada. No sign of life on the computer when I hit the hot-sync button. I can still sync through IR, but it's a pain in the neck because it doesn't always work.
Anyone have any ideas? Could the serial cradle have suddenly broken? Anything else might have caused it?

Have you double checked the cable connection to your Mac?
Another thought is that some other application or extension may have commandeered the serial port. Have you added any new telecommunications software or changed AppleTalk settings lately?

Yeah, I've checked all the connections over and over. But I've got a strange new clue. A couple of times today it actually started to launch HotSync Manager, and then it just disappeared. So it appears that the connection is OK and it's a software problem. Any thoughts, anyone?

Sadly, all the help I can offer is that I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, except I have a USB cradle & Macintosh.
Sometime the desktop ignores the Visor completely, sometimes it hangs while "identifying the user," and sometime it works if I turn off a few of the synchronizations (ie: Addressbook).
