Question Visorphone & Powertel Question.

Does anyone have Visorphone & Powertel. I'm trying to use their email system. You send an email to your phone number @ptel.net. Anyway, in reading the manual [yes I broke down and did that], it says you need the number for SMS E-mail. I called Powertel a couple of times. The first answer was "Visor who", the next answer was "I think it's the same as the SMS text number.

I keep getting the emails bounced back as "Unknown user"

Anybody else having any luck?

Thanks!

Unhappy

I found out the answer. Even though they advertise it on their website its not available yet. Powertel is merging with Voicestream and the email service will not be available for at least another month. Oh, well.

I got the same message with the Voicestream service and the same response from the customer service people.

BUT, after many hours of searching for help, I found that if you send the message to '500' it will send to an email address. It must be in this format:

The first characters of the TEXT MUST BE the email address, then a space, then the body. Give it a try.

Question

Clarification please!

Do you mean you the message would look like this:

To: [email protected]
Subject: Test message
Body: [email protected] Then text of the message. I've tried it but got a "User Unknown message". I'll try sending it to voicestream and see if that works!

Thanks for the help!
Glad one of us figured it out at least!

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific. Here is what it would look like :

To: 500
Body: [email protected] This would then be the body of the message.

all you need is a space between the email address and the text of the message. Let me know if that works for you. Like I said before, with Voicestream, it works perfectly.

Angry

Nope, didn't work with Powertel. Guess we know why Voicestream is taking over Powetel and not vice-versa.

Thanks again for the help!
