Launching treo1.com, looking for 7 volunteers!

I am launching a new Treo mobile web site called http://treo1.com.
I know quite a few sites have been launched already, but I will try to be different by offering, Treo News, Q-Views, which are Quick Reviews where I will try to offer my opinion of software and hardware I have tried, and also Hardware and Software news and releases. I will also offer news and site links, wallpaper and Ringtones. A link for Weather will also be included. I look forward to everyone feedback etc.

I am also opening up this site for some volunteers, I need 7 people to be the admin using a news posting feature to be in charge of an area or number on the site.
These Admin's will have control over one of 7 areas on the site, and through a very easy news program, be able to submit news, links etc, quickly.
If interested send me an email to [email protected].

gotcha..

Posted on 11/12...it only took 2 day for it to happen

See the second paragrah, on the second post in thread

This is what I am talking about. I know I am probably just over reacitng or perhaps coming accross as a horses butt or rude, but I have a personal beef with it (not the site, but the act) and have seen no good come from it. This is also in no way dirrected tword Mr.Treo1 themself as a person. I am sure they are a fine upstanding person with good intentions. This also may have just be a coincidence too? Boy my spelling is horrid....

I'll now be quite and get off my soap box, becasue I know I aint perfect either..

I think the internet is made of of thousands of news portals, each one may offer some of the same content, but also offers something different, its up to the individual to decide.

IMO, the news sites are not stand alone (like Yahoo and MSN), it's a feature (if your talking about Treo Essentails, it offer a much wider aray of stuff then news (ringtones, links, tips, FAQ, reviews...). Also they are not mirrors/copies of each other. My example is along the lines of a site called TreoDeCentral and it looking jsut like TreoCentral in almost every aspect and function, but just having a different URL and owner.

I am all for freedom of speach and people being them selfs, but this is just a simple fact. If you have two of something, that are almost the same, you will divide the users. Intern making each site less then it can or could be. In most cases, I see the mirror sites getting fewer and fewer hits as the real McCoy comes out in the light. I saw it tear apart the Region 5 PWC scene. They all (for the most part) went to one site. ANtoher one started, it got divieded and no one knows were to go now and the info is split up and some good contibutors quit contibuting due to the confusuon and head ache and I think they both suffered. AS WELL AS THE USERS.

It's just my opinion, it may be wrong, but why have two of something, unless the first one was lame or defective and if that was the case, the second one would be different by nature.

I'll keep my opinion of this matter off this board due to it not being Treo related info and probably not doing the board anything positive anyway.
Regards, Matt Burkhard

On a side note, some may say, well TE has revirews, well that is just a rip off of TC, but TC's are done my either profesioanls, staff or people in the biz (for the most part). TE's (from what I gather) are from users. So they are same, but different.

For the record. I don't know anyone from TE. I don't own stock, and don't have anything to gain to loose from the site.

I know I perused all 10 pages & links myself just out of couriocity.
Color me guilty for a dozen or so hits.

Actually, that's not quite how it works. A single web page is made up of a number of get requests, depending on how many graphics and dynamically generated items you have on the page.

For example, your main page has 14 images and of course 1 html page, so the way you're counting is wacky. You should see 15 hits on every new main page request so if people just hit your main page then divide 6297 by 15 and you get about 420 unique loads. I'm not sure why your counter is at 740 - did you start it at an increment other than zero?

A better way to measure of site traffic is number of unique IP's over a given time period. The counter at our site reflects unique IP's, not number of get requests and to be honest, I'm considering removing it for speed of page loading purposes.

Hope this helps,
Derek.
