Question

I was pondering MP3 spingboards, and got to wondering...

An MP3 springboard has to have it's own memory, processor and audio-out. So what is the Visor contributing to this? Just a display? Is there some advantage to playing MP3's on a Visor versus a stand-alone device?

Display.
Battery.
Connection to the PC.

Plus, the Visor can set more options, like:

Shuffle/Repeat modes
Tone
Jump to any track with a click

No, but there are advantages in form factor.
When MP3 springboards were first released, they were grossly overpriced. The soundsgood is now $149, a bit cheaper than the retail price of comparible standalone MP3 players.

Wink

if you have sounds good, you just plug it in and having your Visor and MP3 in one module.

kinda 2-in-1 thing
