Question Hotsync / Outlook XP not working.

Hi. Here's the setup:

1] Fresh install of Windows 2K Pro
2] Fresh install of Office XP, including Outlook XP
3] Fresh install of latest Palm Desktop from Handspring
4] Installed upgrade to Chapura 3.02
5] Try to sync Edge

Things WORK under this setup if I replace step 2 above with Office2K and Outlook2K. Everything syncs up perfectly. But when I install OfficeXP/OutlookXP, I can synchronize my mail, but I crash with a "Hotsync has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

Of course, when I check the error log, it can't be found. Argh.

Has anyone run into anything like this, and if so, how'd you go about getting around it/fixing it?

Thanks so much!
-- Bob

I have also had problems, wont sync with outlook express in XP????. Reinstalled Palm desktop 4.01 reset mail settings but still no joy.
I think your problem is that there is no support for outlook xp which I think wold be the same for the new outlook express in win XP. Any further thoughts anyone???

Although Outlook and Outlook Express are 2 different animals, the problem seems to be something else....

I can't speak about OE, because I could not find any help in the FAQ's, Here's some help on Outlook XP.

I did a search of FAQ's at Handspring and this is what I found when searching for "Office XP":

Can I synchronize my handheld with Office XP/Outlook 2002?

Yes, PocketMirror 3.0.2, which enables synchronization between Handspring handhelds and Microsoft Outlook, is compatible with Office XP/Outlook 2002.

Looks like it's a time to call HS for tech support.....

Another thought on this matter....

Office XP incorporates the security patches that became available for Office 2000 after that big "I Love You" virus scare. I've read somewhere that you will get a security message in outlook xp when you try to perform a hotsync. You'll have to answer these prompts before the sync can finish.

Did you get these prompts?

I was using like 3.1 - it was the one that came on my handspring CD. One thing to note. I was using a betaI got from betanews.com - ie. it isn't the official public release beta of OE 6/IE 6..

Hey. Wow ... a little flurry of activity.

Yeah, I'm having problems syncing with Outlook 2002 (Outlook XP) running on Windows 2000 Pro. I did the upgrade to Pocketmirror 3.02, which is SUPPOSED to work with Outlook 2002, but it doesn't seem to do that very well.

I was just hoping that at least one other person on the planet was experiencing this problem, too, so that it wasn't just me.

Guess I'll get on the horn to Handspring support tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Follow-up ...

Okay, just as a follow-up here ... I did a hard reset (which I'd done before but it hadn't helped) and I no longer have my e-mail syncing and everything works fine with Outlook 2002 now. So it's something with the way the mail is getting sync'ed. At least I've narrowed it down. I could have SWORN I did this kind of testing before, but apparently not. Hmmmm. If I figure it out, I'll let you all know.
