I placed an order for a regular Visor and it's my first PDA purchase. I was pondering over the 2MB memory and how fast that would run out? I would presume that I'd install a few apps on there, and would also have a number of entries in the calendar, memos, etc, just like an avg person. I had a 256K Sharp Organizer in which I never went over 18% in memory use. Then again, I'm sure storing an entry in the Visor (or Palm) takes more memory than storing an entry on a Sharp organizer.
Any thoughts?

I have had my Pilot for three years and I am at about 1.2 Megs (of 2). I have some third party apps, I have had more. It always gets to the point if I am maxing out the 2 megs where I ask myself what I am really using. At that point I usually end up deleting about a 500K worth of crap and all is well in the world.

I am not saying that 8 megs wouldn't be better, I am just say that 2 megs seems just fine for regular everyday use with a few third party apps.

I'll tell you the exact same thing I just told sgmandy:

I think you'll find that it's not a matter of the 8MB filling up quickly, but rather a matter of the 2MB filling up quickly. I have a IIIx with 4MB, and only 792KB left. I'd have less, but I've deleted a bunch of documents recently.

For tracking assignments/work schedule, and a few games, 2MB should be just fine. But when you start downloading everything you can just to see what it's like, you might find 2MB to be quite limiting.

I run DateBk3 (enhanced datebook app), BrainForect (project manager), QuickSheet (spreadsheet), JFile Pro (database), Star-Pilot (astronomy/planetarium), iSilo (HTML viewer (via conversions)), TealDoc (doc viewer w/some graphics capability), Load Runner I & II, and a handful of utilities and other not-so-exciting games... If you think you may even think about wanting to go in that direction, then switch to a Deluxe.

The first thing that interested me about the visor was the $149 price tag. Then I noticed I could get twice the ram for only $100 extra. Although I will probably never use 8 mb of memory, past experience told me to order the deluxe with 8mb. What if some new springboard or app comes out that I gotta have, only my visor doesn't have enough ram!! 5 years ago I opted for the cheaper apple performa(instead of the power mac. I figured this computer had everything I needed. Well guess what, my computer is very slow. Nobody makes upgrades for 68040macs and I can't even get any new applications for it. So get the visor deluxe
