Hey, I've found a neat use for the empty Springboard cover. A business card folded in half fits almost perfectly. Now my IVD has another form of ID if I should, (shudder...) misplace it. You could also place a paperclip in there for resets. Try that Palm owners!

Great Idea, I just put my card in there for the honest person that might find it if misplaced! I have quite the investment in this little gadget with the Rhinoskin TI Slider case, software, and cost of a new BVD I would be estatic if the my card got it returned! Thanks for the Idea.

Hah!

My business cards are formatted in portrait, not landscape. Folding one in half perfectly displays the company's logo through the outside of my ice case (very classy!) and on the inside is all my personal information.

Here's another regarding the paper clip: If you don't like the unsettling rattle, put a small piece of double-sided tape on the inside of the cover and then press the paper clip against the tape.

For those who attach a paperclip to their visor, in case you didn't know, the metal stylus (from the Handspring 5-pack) has a tip that unscrews to reveal a reset pin. If you only want one and don't want to buy 5 for $16 (plus $9 shipping) then there are several people selling styli on eBay (including me....)

I too use the folded business card in empty springboard cover. On that I wrote a note that there is a reward for the return of this machine. Behind that I have $60 (3 $20 bills), some change, a thread and needle, and a paperclip.

Hmmm... I have wondered if the $60 should
be the reward. After all, depending on how long ago I synced the Visor could be worth an order of magnitude more than that including the data!!! Certainly the hardware is worth $60, especially when you consider the delay of getting another, setting it up, etc, etc.

I just want to warn anyone letting a paperclip sit loose in the springboard slot,

*** DO NOT DO IT! ***

Think about it, you could fry your springboard slot or worse! Paperclips are made of metal, there is power on some of the pins, if it shorts into another pin you are in big trouble. Use tape or get a stylus replacement from Handspring that has a reset pin.

I don't know about your visor, but my springboard cover is enclosed on the bottom where a paperclip or any other object couldn't possibly come into contact with the actual connector.

I too was concerned with the electrical contacts in the bottom of the slot. So, simple solution. I put the coins and other metallic objects in the springboard cover first, then on top I put the folded paper money and then my business card folded in half. There is nothing conductive, or hard, that could cause any damage. This also keeps anything from rattling around. I hate the sound of stuff rattling around inside my head...

I'm a salesman, so I put tic-tacs in my Springboard. They don't leave a minty smell all over the Visor like some other mints. People really look at you funny when they try your Visor and pull out a drawer full of tic-tacs.

I agree. I know there is a bottom on the blank springboard module but I am paranoid that when removing it, something could pop out of there and fall down on the pins. Would only take a sec for something slip then ZAP!

Oh well maybe I am overly paranoid but better safe than dead Visor.
