Petition For Prism Active Armor! ! !

Can someone start one and send it to them. I would do it but i wouldn't know how to. Or we could spam them with Active Armor Prism requests...let say each of use spam 50 e-mails a day.

Sorry... Spaming is not the answer.

Listen, the VisorPrism has been discontinued. It's not the fault of ActiveArmor. They simply have to look at the market segment and see if there is a large enough interest. A company must first judge the demand and if they would be able to sell enough units to make up for the cost of engineering the case design. Obviously, their research indicates they wouldn't make up enough sales to cover the engineering of the case for the VisorPrism. It's not their fault.

Sure, I'd love one too for the Prism (my PDA of choice these days). I think ActiveArmor have fantastic products! I own a few ActiveArmor cases that I use with a VisorPro/Deluxe. Having one for the VisorPrism would be perfect, but spaming isn't the answer.

I recommend you politely send them an e-mail and "Ask" if they would be so kind to consider your vote for a VisorPrism case. If several people (one request per person) ask, perhaps they will reconsider the demand. Otherwise, start your own company and build them yourself If you do, just make sure you don't infringe on any patents... That could get messy.

Now if I could just keep her from making those long distance calls on my VisorPhone...

I had written requesting an Active Armor case for the Prism quite a few months ago. They mailed me back recently letting us know that they wouldn't be making a case for them. Not that I'm saying don't try - it just seems that the decision has already been made.

It is always worth an ask, but please remember that molds and production equipment are dreadfully expensive. If they DO make some Prism cases, how many could they sell? THAT is the magic question. Can they earn back the cost of the set-up and show a fair profit over that?

Quite honestly, I think you'd have better luck trying to convince Handspring to come out with a Prism II that uses the Deluxe/Neo form factor! I think this would be a bigger market!

Has anyone tried to modify one of their cases to fit a Prism? It looks like with a little work to accomodate the power button it could work. I'd be interested in buying one of their cases and modifying it if I knew it would work. Heck they could sell me a "prism pack" with a case and instructions on how to modify it to fit the prism. Active Armour are you listening??? You might be able to squeeze out a few more sales before handspring kills the entire Visor line...

I suspect the few extra mm thickness and the "hump" at the bottom of the back would make modifying the case near impossible. Besides the power button, there is also the screen offset (offset to the left instead of the right).

Please don't spam him! He knows there is demand for a Prism model! He will decide in due time I'm sure!

I'm sure he's listening!

Talking Howdy

I agree with Steven, no Spam for me!

I really wish we could afford to do a version for the Prism, but with only the existing Prism customer base to sell to, it isn't enough to justify the tooling costs versus an investment in a design for newer PDAs. If you've seen the case, you'd see how many holes, curves, ribs, loops and stylus silos go into it. This is a very complex and expensive tool with a removable center piece, about 4 different sliders and the primary core and cavity. (+ the flip-door tool).

Madkins007 and Jonecool are right on target.... and hey, I think a Prism II in a Pro case would be a great product (I'd buy one)... but I don't think any of us really believe that would happen.

I do really appreciate your interest in our products and hope we'll be able to meet a future need of yours.

Best Regards,
