Question

OK- All of you out there connecting to the internet on your visor wirelessly or through a phone line modem, what ISPs are you using? Anyone use MSN? I remember seeing somewhere that you can't get "hotmail" off of MSN through the visor? But if this is true, I suppose you can use another e-mail account? I am ready to connect wirelessly using my cell phone and sprint account, but I have AOL at home which does not support web browsing on the visor, and a T1 line at work. They won't give us dial in capabilities at work, so I have to have a dial up ISP. I'm considering changing my AOL at home to MSN. Anyway--- any ideas out there ???

THANKS

Try Earthlink, they're associated with your Sprint wireless network (just checked and if you are a Sprint user you get $2 off ...so $17.95/month for unlimited internet) and i've been with them for almost a year. (actually with Mindspring but they've merged).

I can now dial into either a Mindspring or Earthlink number when travelling (double the phone numbers!) and you may be able to incorporate your Sprint billing so you don't have many different bills.

I pay $19.95/month for unlimited use and we get 3 email addresses and 5MB of personal 'web space'.

Oh ya, i switched from AOL!

(they have a section further down their main page http://www.earthlink.com that explains how easy it is to switch from AOL....)

I use MSN to access the internet using my VDX and a Springport wireline modem. Works fine. It is my understanding that you cannot get Hotmail using the Visor, but it does allow you to access other POP accounts (i.e., my yahoo, etc.).

OK- I've got my sprint cell phone hooked to my visor and it all works up to the point of signing in on MSN, then I get an "authentication error" and it disconnects. What settings do you use to connect to MSN?
I have a message into MSN to ask them, since it seems that they aren't recognizing my ID name and Password or something. I have my modem settings as suggested on the thread about connecting your visor using a cell phone:
Modem: Standard
Speed: 14,400 bps
Speaker: Off
Flow Ctl: Off
Country: Other
String: AT&FX4
Touch Tone

My network settings are:
Service: MSN
Username: mpfields17
Password: assigned (filled in with my password)
phone; 1-614-324-0059 (access number I use from home with no problem.)

Connection Type: PPP
Idle Timeout: Power Off
Query DNS: checked
IP Address: Automatic

Anyone have any suggestions??????

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Marcy

I had the same problem, and here's how I fixed it.

In the user name field, type "msn/" before your username, no space - i.e., "msn/mpfields17" in your case. Works for me.

Talking made it onto MSN!

Ok- thanks for everyone's help! My problem was a combination of putting the "MSN/" before my user ID and using our original user ID instead of the second user i had added.
Now, I have eudora mail intalled on my visor, but its my understanding i cannot use eudora to access my MSN mail? So what are people using- anbother e-mail account? How do you set up eudora to access the other e-mail account? It asks for server info- how do I find that? I was able to access some web sites!
THANKS!!!
