Where to start?

I'm completely new to the pda/handspring world but I want to start programming for it. First thing I have to do is get a good handspring.

What kind of handspring do you all advice I should buy? For the moment, I'm looking at an as-cheap-as-possible device to start with, but still it has to be capable for basic programming and so...

What are the devices I have took for you think?

Thnx,
Chig.

Get a Visor Deluxe, if the slightly older OS (3.1.h2) does not bother you.

If you want a new OS, go for the Visor Neo, with 3.5.h2 OS.

You can get a Deluxe w/ Internet Module for about $80-$100 at CompUSA

A Neo comes $169 or less if on sale, or for $120 if you want a refurbished unit (www.gethightech.com)

What difference could I expect between the 2 OS's?

Also, the programming I want to do is communicate with the handpring with another device. Where I have to connect to is a PC type RS232 connection. How can I make this connection? Do I have to buy a cable for this?

You would have to buy a cable, I am not sure where, though. Someone on this board does, though.

The difference is easier told to you from the experts - either www.handspring.com or www.palm.com

In a nutshell, some programs do not support OS3.1, and OS3.5 has a different battery meter, and a few other small differences.

The Deluxe is also slower than the Neo.
