Question

Perhaps I overlooked something when reading the Infomitt FAQ, but if the Infomitt (which is basically a pager) can only alert you when your Visor is on, how practical is it?

You can't very well leave your Visor on 24/7, one because of the auto shutoff (which i guess can be overrided), two, because of the obvious battery-life issue.

The price ($50.00) seems consistent if not better than the average text pager. But this add-on will need to work all the time before i buy it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. Can someone help me out with this one?

BTW-just bought my Visor 3weeks ago from CompUSA and I'm lovin it!

I would think so. After all, even a Visor that's off has some juice running through it, otherwise the RAM would be empty each time you turned it off.

The only thing I know for sure is that the Infomitt won't work outside of the Visor. Last year when the unit was demoed at Internet World, a writer covering the event pointed out to an Innogear rep that people would like the Infomitt to work outside the Visor, and the rep said, "It's a @#&in' $50.00 pager!"

After enough negative feedback, Innogear plans to release a battery unit that will power their modules then they are out of the Visor.

Wink

Thanks for the clarification Gameboy70. I'm sure the battery unit will make this springboard even more valuable.

Here's my last question on this topic: Can springboard modules such as Infomitt, and others, feed off the battery power of the visor, without the visor power being on?

I guess that was what I really wanted to know anyway.

Thanks!

You might want to look at the Glenayre application currently being developed. It can work when outside the visor.

Thanks for the tip! If this thing really comes out in 'mid-July', I'll print this post out and eat it. Otherwise, it looks promising.
