After what I thought was a routine HotSync last night, I cannot get my VDX working, even after trying the "take batteries out......." routine overnight.

Here is a snippet from the HotSync Log that might provide a clue, but I know I don't know what it means, and was hoping someone here may unfortunately has the knowledge of experience to help me out:

"- Installed 2Sky.PRC
ERROR: Unable to create file on handheld: HsCardSetup.4ABE.137C (16405)
- Installed Battery_Meter_Hack.PRC
- Installed USBFileMover.PRC
ERROR: Unable to create file on handheld: WristBand Serial Library (16405)"

Soft Reset then ends in "Fatal Erro" message box with "Fatal Exception" as the text.

Any will be very appreciated.

Sounds like you have a Thinmodem+ perhaps?

The HsCardSetup and WristBand Serial Library files belong to the Thinmodem. I'm not sure why they're trying to be installed to the Visor, however, since they should be on the Thinmodem itself.

Try a warm reset (hold the UP button while resetting) and see if that brings the VDx back to life. If it does, I would try deleting the 3 apps (2Sky.PRC, Battery_Meter_Hack.PRC, and USBFileMover.PRC). If you can succesfully delete them, try a soft reset. If the Visor works after the reset, then one of those apps is most likely causing your problem.

Mark, yes I do have the Thinmodem+, and I had the module installed at the time of the HotSync, which has been the case since I received it. Here is what I did before I started using the TM+. I have BB set to backup everything on any module with memory that it finds intsalled. So I hotsynced/backed up my HS 8MB Flash Module, copied all files in the BackupHsFlashModule directory off my Palm user directory, to the Windows Desktop. Then I switched modules (put in the TM+ module) and used the USBUSBFileMover to write the BackupHsFlashModule directory's contents to the TM+ Flash memory. Now I have two 8MB flash modules with the same apps on them.

Since I did this I haved left the TM+ installed, and have hotsynced numerous times, in addition to using the TM+ to go online, etc.

Now suddenly, last night, kaboom! Called HS support a bit earlier. They suggested I removed the two files in the log that were have the HsCardSetup and Wristband Serial Library files from the back up directories, and try again. If does not work, to call them back.

Why do you think removing Sky.PRC, Battery_Meter_Hack.PRC, and USBFileMover.PRC files as well?

BTW, thanks for your kind helpfulness.

I subscribe to the theory that the last installed app(s) are probably causing the problem.
