Hello,

I am seriously considering purchsing the GoType! Pro Keyboard and the Thinmodem Plus for my Handspring Visor Deluxe. I've read many reviews and arguments concerning the GoType! versus Stowaway, but I think the GoType! will suit me better because it's cheaper, sturdier, and comes with more software than the Stowaway. (Although, I was leaning towards purchasing a Stowaway for quite a while.)

Anyway, I have some concerns concerning using the GoType! Keyboard with the Thinmodem Plus. Will I be able to use the Thinmodem Plus springboard and the GoType! Keyboard at the same time?

Also, using the Thinmodem Plus, can I call long-distance using a calling card? I mean, can I call into an ISP in Japan from Florida?

Anyway, any comments you have on the Thinmodem Plus or the GoType! Pro Keyboard are welcome. Thank you!

I got a GoType before I got my stowaway, for the reasons that you suggest, it is cheeper, it is a better value. And within two weeks I had taken it back in exchange for a stowaway, because despite the value of the gotype, the typing experience is much much better for the stowaway. You CAN touch type on the gotype, but you can touch type better on the stowaway, trust me on that one; it's all about how you can type on it.

As for the thinmodem, you can use it with the keyboard of your choice. and while you can dial longdistance for an ISP, youd' be crazy to pay that kind money for the internet, just sign up for some good ISP when you are here.

Thumbs up

I use a gotype keyboard with the original thinmodem. Works great. I also think the gotype is the best value. The stowaway would be good if you want tue portability. I use the keyboard in hotels, etc. so putting it in my luggage or briefcase suits me fine.

What Celchu19 said regarding long distance is entirely valid. Get a local ISP, or perhaps your current ISP has a global roaming feature. But besides being wasteful, it's probably impossible. The thinmodem (original or plus) will most likely not connect with a modem in Japan.
