Palm Desktop 4 for Mac OS X and duplicates

Since I installed the released version of Palm Desktop 4 for OS X, hotsyncs are working just fine on the Visor end, but on the desktop many duplicate entries show in the desktop calendar. In addition many To Dos marked as done on the Visor still show up as uncompleted on the desktop. I'm wary about making lots of changes on the desktop in case the Hotsync decides both have changed and copies all to both platforms.

Has anyone run into this? Any suggestions on bulk-removing the duplicate desktop entries? I know utilities exist for the handheld, but nothing for the desktop.
