So does anyone know why my avatar (as of 10/16/02) is special? It's a really cool graphic but do you know why it's cool?

Yes, depending upon your perception its either convex or concave. Right !!

after actually looking at it, I'm going to say it's because it's a bunch of nested circles comprised of short lines that overall look like they're creating a spiral.

Yeah, I do have poor grammar, so :-P But more to the point, you're right. There is no spiral in the image. Follow one around with your finger around. Some other examples (and man, some of these are crazy!):

A few months ago there were two pictures on Yahoo News of an ostrich. The second was taken just as the bird bit the camera. That's where my present avatar came from. :-) Yay animated gifs.
