Exclamation

Crap!! Late again, there's already a discussion in the "all handhelds" section!! Sorry! Sorry!

Credit goes to meitsjustme for his find:

Check out: http://www.palminfocenter.com./view_Story.asp?ID=1701

I like the increase resolution, I thought that the current palm OS was not suppose to support that? Hmmm...very interesting.

Check out the photo!

The site is in Japanese, but the picture is pretty cool.

There are more pictures in the "all handhelds" section.

I have got to say, man this new Clie looks really cool, the increase color resolution is making me drool.

I think everybody should look at this Sony, it seems to be thus far the perfect Palm OS handheld!!

I wonder if Handspring or Palm will use whatever Sony is doing on the color Edge (visortwist?) and the color m505? Is that why handspring delay the release of the color Edge?

Red face

Aww man, if the technical info. about this Sony is true...and if Handspring or Palm releases a their color models with 160x160 resolution, they (HS and Palm) are going to take such a beating!!! Now that we know that the resolution limit is not limited by the current Palm OS.

I wonder how that's possible....if the resolution is increased from 160x160 to 320x320 won't all the regular graphic look smaller like when you increase the resolution on your computer?

size comparison
Clie:4.67 x 2.80 x .66 inches and weighs 5.64 ozs
Edge:4.70 x 3.10 x .43 inches

Price:
Clie 50,000 yen which converts to $419!?!?!?
Edge $399

I really don't know the Clie is possible. Am I dreaming?

It looks absolutely deadly.
"Sony; No Baloney," like their old slogan said.
They weren't kidding.
These guys don't clown around.
This shakes up the whole PDA mkt. again.

you know why?

the reason for SONY not to be clown around is if they did, not only other Palms, but PPC and WindowsCE(which still pretty strong in Japan) and one of oldest PDA, Sharp's ZAURUS gonna eat them alive. you think it's shaking up here, go to Japan now; it is a WAR.

I wonder what general people choose eventually. Apple's PDA is failure 'cos it was too much and too soon. PPC? I don't see that many people with Casio, and never seen ipaq on the street.

I hope, and I think SIMPLICITY will be appreciated.
I mean, look at edge; simple yet expandable... that's so beautiful. I hope for good screen, too, but other than that I hope color edge or anything from HS to be "focused" just like that.

Yeah, looks like they threw in the kitchen sink and the plumber into this new Clie. No wonder Sony was quiet for so long. I have to agreed this really shakes up the PDA market. This thing is awesome if it is true.

If the Sony can support running applications and accessing data directly off the memory sticks like Handspring's flash memory module or something like the TRGpro...I may do the unthinkable...jump ship. That is unless the new color Edge or Twist incorporates this new resolution technology.

update
I think the Clie was released in Japan today.
check out these pictures:

Just looked up www.sony.co.jp on AltaVista's babelfish translator and took a look at the Japanese CLIE. 8MB RAM, Palm OS 3.5, Color, jog dial, MemoryStick, and A CELL PHONE ATTACHMENT? For $400? Wow. Handspring and Palm, watch out.

Talking THERE REALLY IS A GOD!

Somebody pinch me! Am I dreaming? 320x320 pixel resolution...reflective TFT screen (ala iPAQ)...MP3 audio?!?! Oh baby!

Can't wait for it to hit the US market. On the other hand, this is SONY, so we can expect this to be VERY expensive.

We'll see.

Finally, a "Palm OS" device that knows what sound is.
Now if they could admit they could put more that 8M
internally!

Nope. Just set the system to show 4 pixels for each 1 for applications that are set to 160 x 160. Sony has my attention now.
