Question

Hi gang. I saw the link about PQA's on the older OS. How about my 3.5.2 Edge? I ordered a cable from Supplynet to hook in to my PCS phone. Would I need special software (like Palm VII emulator ROMs or something) to run a PQA, or could I just install one and run it with the cable/cell phone? Thanks for any input.

Dave

Well, PQA's work fine on my Edge, But there is the possibility Omnisky installed something to make them work correctly. I think all you need is a database called web clipping.

You will need either an omnisky modem (which installs the appropriate db's) or JP Mobile's product. JPM's products gives access to pqa's for OS 3.1 and up Palms/Visors. Of course you will still need a modem to use the pqa's.

Cool

Palm's Mobile Internet Kit also contains the required db's.

Thumbs up Found the libraries!

Thanks, I saw on the other topic about PQA's somebody had posted the link to the Palm VII libraries and a link to docs on how to set it up. Now I can't wait for my Supplynet cable to get here. Damn backorders!

I found the libs also but can't reset the IP address as specified in the instructions. The instructions say to turn on the Easter egg in preferences. Then run the Palm.pqa and tap 4 times in the lower right corner to bring up a hidden menu that allows you to change the proxy server to 206.112.114.82.

I can't get the hidden menu, what have I done wrong? Has anyone else got this to work on an Edge?

here are the instructions I followed: http://www.woggledog.com/new-web/palmclipping.html

Make sure that the 4 taps are on the screen, but not in the Graffiti area.

Did that. I've tried clicking right abouve the edge of the screen, outside the screen (the area between the calc button and the screen), 4 slow taps, 4 fast taps, 4 very long taps, etc, etc...

I just can't get it to work. Are you using a Visor Edge? Did you get it to work?

Finally, it was "user error". I was waiting for a menu to appear, I didn't see that the hidden menu appeared after I pressed the "menu" button. My fault, but thanks for your help guys!

I don't know what it about PQA's that keeps attracting me to try them. I tried them before on my Visor DLX and found that I just really had no need for them. Yes, the Starbucks one is really cool but I don't need to travel for work enough that I need that PQA. NetToolBox is cool but I have some of those functions built into the network app of the Visor. I played with a few others, and I can get the same content from Avantgo.

So, I upgrade to a Visor Edge and what is the first thing I try, PQA's. Go figure, I just found them interesting but can't find a good enough use for them to warrant the extra space on my PDA.
