I just lost all of the data on my Visor. I didnt use it for a day (decided it wouldnt be a good idea to live in my pocket while I moved a friend from an apt [ie up and down stairs[ to his new house). Came back this morning and it was dead..I mean *dead*. I had just put new batteries in 2 days ago so I immediately through that out. Tried a soft reset - nothing. Hard reset - nothing. So just to do a sanity check a threw yet another new pair of batteries in it. Needless to say - it fired right up. I cannot explain why this happened, but I am a little pissed at losing a perfectly good (and expensive) pair of AAA's and having to reinstall all of my apps. Hope it doesnt happen again!

Unhappy

I received a defective unit. I have to use soft resets to start the dang thing. This happened with in my first 10 minutes of usage.

Oh yeah, it burned through a set of batteries in 3.5 days despite less than 3 hours of actual usage!

Needless to say, I'm having a new one sent to me. However, I can't help but feel very uneasy after reading many other posters experience the EXACT SAME problem.

If I have any problems with the replacement, it's goodbye handspring, hello Palm.

2nd Hard reset happened today. I've had my VDx for almost 1 1/2 months. A p.i.n.t.a. but not the end of the world. Thank god for the backup module. That is a must have!!

I've had my vdx since December and have never had to hard reset. Soft reset a couple of times, but never a hard reset.

I've had to hard reset only ONCE - and that was entirely my own fault. Against the Handspring website's stern warnings, I decided to install Palm's enhanced infrared update so that I could connect and send SMS to a cell phone. It worked fine until I had to do a soft reset, after which it went into an infinite reset loop. Hard reset and reinstall and I have never had to do it again since

I've had my VDx for about 2 months now. I've had to do 4 hard resets and unknown soft resets (probably every third day). I called support and got some guy who could barely speak English. Naturally it was any third parties' software fault. I'm running a doc viewer CSpotRun. It's not listed as incompatible. Very frustrated. I have 3 co-workers with real Palm Pilots running lots of software without a hitch. Needless to say, I'm a little jealous.

Eric,

I, and many others, have been running CSpotRun without problems. I think it very very unlikely that CSpotRun could be causing any hard or soft resets.

Red face

Eric,

I wouldn't just call Support and explain your problem... I would call and very specifically ask them for a replacement. You might want to take all 3rd party software off for a week or so and see if it changes things. It's been my impression that Handspring cares enough about the consumer to not question the validity of a complaint, but rather to meet their needs. You paid $250... you deserve a product that works.
