Well, I broke down and bought one. I just got it today and I'm a happy camper. Thanks to Dan at Active Armor for being very patient with me and even going so far as to test the Active Armor with a detachable belt clip. It's even more substantial than I imagined and the Active Armor-encased Visor has a very solid feel to it, actually making it easier to write Graffiti than when the Visor was in my now-retired RhinoSkin ShockSuit.

I bought a generic detachable belt clip and stuck the knob to the rubber on the back, which will make the Visor hang upside-down. The rubber is quite thick on the back, so I have no fears now about the material tearing. The Visor feels at least as comfortable on my belt as it did when it was in the ShockSuit.

I highly recommend it, which is saying something since I tend to be one of the world's biggest cynics.

I bought this simply for the coolness factor ! It definitely looks like something off Batman's utility belt. I think I might put a Batman sticker on the flip lid !

The Visor fit in the pocket of my pants with the case on, which is how I carry it once in a while, so the overall size doesn't increase much.

I made the cut for my Visorphone with a small xacto type knife, and there were no major mishaps like I sometimes have when a sharp object is placed in my hand. My headset plugs in fine, it has a rather flat plug, so I didn't have to do any additional trimming. I was thinking of modding my VDX with lights, and I like the idea that I can modify the case so the lights will show through.

My only gripe is that I have a pen/stylus combo, and there's no way to attach that. OK, that and having to remove the case to hotsync in the cradle. I do have a hotsync cable, so no worries there.

Overall, this is the coolest accessory I've found for my Visor so far !

I purchased direct from Active Armor. I ordered it Tuesday night, and it was on my Visor Friday night when I got home from work. I was pleased that it arrived quickly, no hassles. A good experience overall.

Active Armor case OK, but not for everyone

I have several cases/protectors for my Visor Deluxe--Vaja leather case (by far the best-looking), Kensington flip-case, several slipcases, and the Flipcover. I tried the Active Armor case and found it somewhat useful, but, in some ways, it's a major pain.

1) With the Active Armor case, it's hard to fit a Visor into a pocket, even with the Docker Mobile Pants. Like another reader, I don't want to hang it on my belt with a mini-carabiner.

2) The same goes for the pockets designed for PDAs in the various bags I have. It does fit in the rather generous pocket of my Kensington Saddlebag, but not in any others. Also, the rubber increases the friction, so it's harder to get the PDA out of the pockets.

3) Taking the Visor out of the case was a major pain. I like to use the Stowaway keyboard (I take notes at meetings with it--it's impossible to keep up with graffiti or even a thumbboard), so I had to take the Visor out of the case. Not only is the Visor a snug fit, but there is a lot of friction.

The Active Armor case would be great for some users, especially those who use the Visor outdoors or in "rough" environments. In my case, I gave up using it and went back to the Kensington flip case, which seems to provide a lot of protection (more protection than the Active Armor case in some ways) and is a lot easier for me to live with. (Not to mention that the Kensington case looks a lot nicer.)
