Exclamation

Hi gang. When I last HotSynced with my computer, I downloaded a ton of email to my Visor (yeah, I don't clean my Inbox anywhere near enough). I then spend a while this weekend deleting all that email.

I have since changed my Conduit Manager - Change Synchronization Preferences to have everything (except "Install") set to "Do Nothing".

Today, when I synced up (to get my AvantGo stuff only), it synced the email anyway. The really bad thing is it deleted all the email in my inbox. The email isn't in the "Deleted Items" folder... I can't find it!

So, my two questions are these - how do I rescue all the deleted emails on my PC, and then how do I stop the two from syncing?

Ouch, Nate. I was worried that I would have the same problem using Eudora mail. There was a setting change in the Hot Sync Prefernceson your PC( click on the lower right hand corner of your task bar on your PC) that allows you to set what you want to sync or not be synched. (Sync files, handheld over rides PC, PC over rides handheld, or do nothing.) It's under Custom, I think, and there's a check box for making the selections the default action on every sync. If you *don't* select the make default action checkbox, then your changes are good for only one sync action.

In Eudora, the first time I synced after transferring mail to the Visor, all the mail I had deleted from the Visor was deleted on the PC, too. Definitely *not* what I had planned. However, in my case, the mail went to the trash fplder and I could retrieve it.

I'm still trying to figure out how I can delete on the Visor, but not on the PC and *still* be able to send email from the Visor. (i.e. I'd read all my mail on the run, but still like to save some on the PC, but not necessarily take up precious space on the Visor.)

Sorry for the rambling, but I think I've only answered half of your question. What email program were you using?

Hey GldnBearz. Thanks for the reply!

I'm using Outlook. Problem is, when I trashed the mail on my Visor, I also emptied the trash... I think my mail is gone.

I figured out how to get the mail to not sync, but can't for the life of me figure out how you'd do what you want to do, except maybe setting up a second Eudora program and sending thru that. Don't know if it would work, but it's worth a try.

Maybe my problem is related . . . I HotSync my BVD with 2 computers (one at home; one at work). I HS with computer "A" and I get my mail. I then go to work and HS with computer "B" and all the messages that were received from computer "A" are now missing from my Visor. I havn't found a way to force the software to leave my e-mail on the Visor and just add any new mail.

Any thoughts? Thanks

I'm using a Eudora 1.05 for Palms ( http://www.qualcomm.com). It have some nice feature like filters. You can leave all messages on the desktop and get only filtered. For guys who using 2 comps you can use an utility what moving mail to mempad ! It's not so comfortable but helps enough.

Within the Mail program on your Visor, you can set it to pull in only unread messages, rather than your whole inbox. Much better! I use Outlook, and if I want a read message to be sent to the Visor I just right-click and mark it as unread.

Perhaps this helps?
