Talking new prism

I upgraded this week to a prism (got a great deal on a new in the box prism on e-bay)from my deluxe. I love it! Was able to transfer most data/programs over in the sync. But I lost my beloved exerlog- data base of exercises did not transfer over! And the dietlog company does not offer it anymore. may look into other fitness programs... Anyone have any recommendations? Anyway, I am working on using my sprint phone and cable to connect to the internet as I did with my dlx. the connection info is different. Anyone using the sprint phone and QNC to connect? Advice on settings?

Thanks!!

What I assume happened is that the backup bit on that database was not set and thus was not backed up and thus not restored to your new Prism. Is it still on your Deluxe? If so, things you could try either:
  • Use a program like Filez or BeamBox to beam the missing databases from your Deluxe to your Prism.
  • Perform a " . 5" on the Deluxe. This should be done in a text field (the memo pad or the find dialog box work well for this). This will erase the HotSync name of the Deluxe. You can see the HotSync name in the upper right corner of the HotSync application. It will become blank after doing the " . 5". HotSync the Deluxe, but when prompted, give it a different name from your Prism. Then either install BackupBuddy on your desktop, or install and run a program like BackupAll on your Deluxe. HotSync the Deluxe again. You will then have in the backup directory for the Deluxe (typically something like c:\Palm\HotSyncName\Backup) all the files that were on the deluxe. You can then pick and choose what additional files should be installed from your Deluxe to you Prism. After you are done with this you probably want to delete the Deluxe's HotSync name from your desktop, this can be done from the Palm Desktop (even if you do not sync against it) or on some installations there is a separate application to do this (it is currently not on my box so I cannot look up it's name).

Prism settings

In Preferences|Connection , add a new config as:
Name=Cellphone (name it what ever you want)
Connection Method=Serial to Modem
Dialing=TouchTone
Volume=Low
Under Details...
Speed=14,400 bps
Country=Other
Flow Ctrl=Off
String=AT&FX4

In Preferences|Network settings, add a new service(name it what ever you want) and use your ISP user ID and password. Don't forget to
tap details and enter the DNS info (if your ISP needs
this info).
