eye module2?

i desperately need a digital camera.


i bought the 1st eye moduel and was NOT impressed with the quality of the images
so i sold it.

how does the eye module2 measure up?
should i waste my money on it?
or just buy a 'real' digital camera?

that's not bad for snapshots.
but i need it for indoors
specifically images for ebay.

smittyofdhs is right. There are cheaper and higher quality digital cameras that would fit your eBay needs.

The place where the eye2 shines is for situations when you'd like to capture the moment and happen to have your visor with you(most of the time for me ). The little two ounce attachment will capture images in places and times when you really wouldn't think or bother to bring a full camera. If that doesn't factor into your cost/benefit analysis, then a real digital camera is the way to go.

Sheesh, you don't have to put it like that!

I had to plunk down the full $200 unlike that lucky smittyofdhs. The blow was softened a bit by being able to retroactively apply a 10% discount.

As for that "spur of the moment" thing, I've only recently committed to capturing images of the family, friends, and things around me. I was never and probably never will be the kind of person who would carry a "real" camera around in day-to-day life, but it kind of hit me last year when we had to put one of our dogs to sleep that we didn't have many pictures of him as he grew up. The Eye2 is part of my committment to pay more attention to my everyday life.

The picture quality is usually only so-so but as long as I can see the expressions on people's faces, it's more than good enough. For me, a real digital camera would spend more time as a paperweight at home or in the car because of its obtrusiveness, while the Eye2 is always at hand. Like I'm fond of saying:
What good is the great quality of the pictures you never take?

Because I have my Visor with me the vast majority of the time, my cost/benefit analysis goes something like this:
$200 for being able take lower quality pictures 95% of the time beats out $150-$200 for being able to take high qualitiy pictures (maybe) 5% of the time.

Your cost/benefit analysis may vary.

I have been a very happy eyemodule2 user. I like it because it allows me take images of things I would never think of taking had I gotten a "real" digital camera. Maybe thats where its toy looks maybe its biggest asset. I would take images in situation where I wouldn't want to take a more expensive looking camera along because I don't want it stolen. The eyemodule2 doesn't look like a real camera and may not make me a target. Plus it looks less touristy than a real camera.

As for quality, it may not be the best choice due to its lack of flash, but I have never really had any issues with it. However, if you are planning to use it for eBay auctions, I would get a standalone camera just to make sure of its quality.

Don't get me wrong, it is a functional camera in the right situation but personally I would rather have a full-blown digital camera. For the reasons that molly1216 wants a digital camera, this is probably the wrong camera to buy. But like other posts in this thread I too have found great opportunities to use the eye2.

For example: On my last vacation to Tennessee, in Gatlinburg there are some shops that sell birdhouses and other hand-made wood pieces. Some of these shops prohibit taking pictures of their wares. In the past my Dad (who's a woodworker, also) would have to look at an item then go outside the shop and sketch the piece from memory so that he could re-create it back in his garage. Not any more, just load the eye2 and I can take all kinds of pictures, "James Bond-style". Nobody even knew what we were doing, most of them in that shop had probably never seen a Visor Edge before. They probably thought I was playing with a GameBoy or something. Of course, now my Dad has great pictures from all angles and sides of the piece. If more people knew about the eye2, there would be a lot less older men standing out front of the shop sketching on a napkin.

thats'a great reason to have it.

i on the other hand
have a minox 35GL which can be quite secretive.
it's smaller than a pack of playing cards.
but alas it is not digital it is a 35MM.
