Korpsis? That makes it sound like it is dead. We aren't starting THAT thread again, are we?

And while I'm on the spelling: "nither"?

Not quite Mark. The subject line of Euxx's post still says "Korpsis".

Also, as of 35 votes, Kopsis CF is ahead by a 2:1 margin. So much for Memplug "owning the market".

flashplus user

have to say i like the additional software with memplug, but the basic reason i bought a flashplus was purely for the fact that the CF card sits flush within the adapter...cleaner lines, fits in case with no problems, etc.

Wink new memplug cf design

Memplug cf also has a flush design.

The reverse card insertion design is different from innopocket, no need to remove the module from the slot for card insertion or removal. neat!

Also, this new design is compatible with all cf cards cards unlike innopocket which is not compatible with quite a few popular brands like Lexar, Simple and Viking. http://www.kopsisengineering.com/cf_compat.html

Pictures of MemPlug CF (flush design): http://www.memplug.com/ProuctInfo_MemPlugCF.htm

Wow two times today I have felt like I am about to have a heart attack. First, I was watching Kavuto on Business on Fox News and Dick Gephardt, a democrat, said that we should cut taxes even more next year. Second, Kopsis-based CF modules are leading in the poll. Actually, to be honest, I am not too shocked. Kopsis has been developing CF modules for a couple of years, either by giving people directions on how to build one or by selling a CF module. Memplug is a more recent entry and I would probably guess that people who already purchased a Kopsis-based CF module don't want to buy a new one or want to remain with the same "brand." That and some people like having the module flush. The flush Memplug CF just came out two weeks ago and doesn't have much of a presence yet.

Kopsis gave us the instructions for the do-it-yourself adapter. They have never produced a commercially available CF adapter... only the software for it.

A couple of years? Not quite... Check

http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...p?threadid=7565

Dave was still "working on" his design in August of 2000.

Dave has been great, but let's not credit him with time travel just yet...

Just read a note from the creator of memplug:

I wonder how many flashadapter were sold so far. Maybe Kopsis engineering tell us the number.

The only real comparison would be to see how many FlashAdapter software licenses have been sold compared to the number of MemPlug units. Kopsis only writes the software, they do not build or sell the adapters themselves.

That brings up the question as to whether a CF adapter (not the FlashPlus module) is a Springboard module. Technically, the answer would be no, since the plain adapter does not include the requisite flash memory to store the necessary welcome app as defined by the Springboard standard. However, I contend that since it occupies and uses the Springboard slot, it is a module, just not an officially recognized one. This is simply my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree.

The bottom line is that my homemade CF adapter, powered by the Kopsis FA software, is just as good as a MemPlug or FlashPlus in that it serves my needs quite well.

30k MemPlugs is impressive (gee, I wish I'd sold that many SpringWallets*!) but remember that that's an estimate through the end of the year based on orders from retailers. The retailers may not actually sell all of them...

Anyway, I can guess as to how many FlashAdapters Kopsis has sold: 0

Kopsis sells software, not hardware (smart guys!). MemPlugs are only available from one source, but FlashAdapters are available from several. The FlashAdapters I know of are:

Homemade
Matchbook Drive MD-001
Matchbook Drive MD-100
Innopocket (original)
FlashPlus

If you add 'em up, will you get 30,000? I don't know. But, the year's not over yet, and it is possible that other FlashAdapters may come on the market in time for the holidays.

*see <http://www.SpringWallet.com/> for info.

Let me guess why is that... Just because someone post reference to this pool to Kopsis maillist just before another guy who post same reference to MemPlug mailist.

I'm using MemPlug just because it's only SmartMedia solution for any of Palm based PDA. As you may see MemPlug owns at least that half of business. An by the way, they already have MemoryStick module near the release. :-P

I'm pretty happy with memplug but reading both maillist just to compare what's going on...

Well, I'd love to give you sales figures for FlashAdapter based products, but unfortunately I can't. Kopsis doesn't actually build or sell modules, we just provide software to the people who do. And disclosing sales data for any of my distributors would be a direct violation of my licensing agreements (not to mention that I have no business doing so).

So does one of Kopsis' partners.

Talking

david:
May be you cannot tell us the exact number but is it above or under the memplug number? Please let us know.

We were arguing who 'owns' the market. We can finally make a conclusion if you give us this missing piece of information.

By the way, disclosing the total number should not upset your distributors since you have more than one and the information is not enough the deduce individual numbers. Do you agree?

Since Memplug has shipped thousands of units I suspect this little bitty sample is not indicative yet.
