just ordered one too!

I was waiting for the price to dip this low...what's up with that? Is Palmgear clearing out their inventory? I noticed that the soundsgood isn't in their springboard catalog anymore? Anyone have the scoop on what's going on here? Is Good folding up?

Now I think that it is worth it

I think before this module wasn't realy worth that price becuse it wasn't expandable, but now if you want expansion it wouldn't be unreasonable to just get another module, I think i would still go with the minijam, if my PDA wasn't able to play MP3s and WMAs without a module; but that is just a matter of personal prefrence.

Also it will be intresting to see what Innogear does in response, though what ever it does I think we can rest assured that it will take them a year to six months to do it if they ever get it done.

Angry OK Now I Angry

I bought my SG about a month ago (to long ago to return it and get my money back) and now I see that they have dropped the price by almost half!!!!

I love the SG and especially the energy clip, but I feel cheated. I checked with the other online carriers of the SG and all of them are listing it at the regular price.

I called SG to see if anyone there had any answers to my questions and after numerous tries (I kept getting a message that said that all circuits were busy) I got a message that said that they looked forward to hearing from me. I could not leave a message or speak to anyone about the SG. Their phone is 1-866-723-4663.

Make me wonder what is going on. My initial hope was that they were going to release a second generation SG, but I guess that is not to be.

It seems that everytime I buy something lately, a month later, I see that the price has been dropped or a second generation product is coming out. Very frustrating.

Just called... Voice Mail

You are right. There is not a way to leave a message. Only e-mail. That stinks.

149 is cheap. I love my SG, but I hate that I paid almost double for the module.

If I had a whistle, I'd be blowing it right now and calling a time out on the field.

This is another case of someone's assumption turning into wild-rumor-assumed-to-be-fact. Just because one source of a product drops their price on said product does not mean that the manufacturer is going out of business. More than likely, PalmGear is probably the one in trouble. We've been hearing about problems with them quite a lot on these boards over the last month or so, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to sell off their stock. (Sometimes its simpler to slash prices and take a loss.)

Anyway, who is to say that Good isn't gearing up for the SG2? There's no proof either way ANYWHERE on the net, so I think we should all just calm down and wait to hear something official.

Ask them if they are discontinueing the Soundsgood module with no MP3 replacements and see what kind of response you get

Flash memory prices have been falling for the last few months. There was a severe parts shortage in 2000 which I believe is largely cleared up now. I would imagine that the 64MB of flash in a SoundsGood makes up a significant percentage of the unit's cost. The rebate was probably just an interim price reduction, and $149 is the new cost of the unit.

So why would they be pulling them from retail stores? My friend tried to buy one in LA and the sales guy said that they have been pulling all units from them.

Thumbs up Good for SoundsGood

Good on you SoundsGood!

I bought mine in December and was happy with the $249 pricetag. Anyone of you Visor owners out there without an MP3 player should really take advantage of this deal!

They can get the SoundsGood to work with Virtual PC according to another VC post I think?

Hope all is well. Rumors are opinion until proven.

I think palmgear is figuring out that more than $200 for a mp3 player is too much. PalmGear seems to always have led in price slashing of products and this is probably another case of them taking the lead to make a quick profit. Most people 8 months ago said they would buy a mp3 player, but only if it was about $100-$150. Well PalmGear has steped up to the plate and others will hopefully follow!

Question soundsgood and visor

Slightly off topic here, but I'm curious about the exact technical benefits of having an MP3 player like the SoundsGood sit inside the Visor, as opposed to a standalone player...

The SoundsGood itself must have a separate processor for decoding audio, its own memory, and headphone jack, for example. There is separate software for loading music, bypassing the HS Desktop (apparently for good speed reasons). In fact the availability of the Energy Clip makes it seem like the Visor is only supplying a redundant user interface and batteries.

I don't see any information in reviews about whether it's even possible to rearrange your playlist on the Visor, or if you have to go back to MusicMatch on the PC. I don't suppose you can use the MP3 player memory for other purposes.

It seems like the biggest advantage is just having one less thing to carry, and a lighter unit since it leeches batteries from somewhere else. The price is now pretty competitive as far as MP3 players go, though.
